When you were tackled you would throw the ball and someone else pick it up and run. Repeat. The goal was to avoid being tackled as long as possible. I was pretty good at it. I loved it. So much more fun than football and soccer.
We weren't allowed to play so we would sneak off the playground and play in the football field.
A few stories about it.
- I got hit in the junk hard enough to black out. When I woke up my vocal chords were stripped and I couldn't talk.
- I got a big cut on my eyebrow. We didn't want the teachers to know so 20 guys circled around me, hid me in the crowd and snuck me into the bathroom while we tried to clean it up and stop the bleeding. We eventually realized the bleeding wasn't going to stop. They all disappeared and I went to the principles office. He didn't ask what happened, just called my parents who didn't answer and then he drove me to the hospital for stitches.
- A new kid was playing. I went to tackle him and grabbed his chest from behind and slammed him to the ground pretty hard. While grabbing his chest I realized that he was a very manly looking 12 year old girl. Apparently I was the only one who hadn't realized because everyone was staring speechless with their mouths open.
Another game we played once... Our wrestling room was padded and had no windows. We turned off all the lights and had a royal rumble. Ten, 14 year old boys, in pitch black, wrestling. One kid was on his knees trying to stand up while another ran full speed and accidently kneed him in the face breaking his nose. I got body slammed and had a nerve pinched and could barely use my left arm for a month. We agreed with the coach, that was a stupid game and we never spoke of it again.

How does it feel to become mute?
I'd become very panicy, to be honest.

She didn't play again. And she looked and dressed just like a guy.
We played bloody knuckles too.

I remember playing smear the queer growing up as well. It wasn't that often though. The two big ones when I was in middle school was slap boxing and bloody knuckles.

yeah I guess it is unreasonable for millions of people to adjust just because of a hand full of people.
I remember playing "smear the queer" exept we called it fuble tumble where I'm from. Slap boxing I've never played, but bloody knuckles was a good game to test your reflex and pain resistance. Ever played "coconut" ?

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
I think our versions of bloody knuckles are different. Ours had nothing to do with reflexes. Isn't bloody knuckles where you and another person just reel back and punch each other in the fist at the same time, first one to bleed loses?
Slap boxing is basically like regular boxing but open handed and without any rounds or garbage, only hits to the face. Though half the time slap boxing ended with one person getting really upset and clenching up and plowing the other in the face with a fist.

The bloody knuckles I played was two guys putting their fists out and touching fist to fist, then take turns striking the top of your opponent's fist or fists. If you missed hitting the knuckles then it was the other guy's turn. Play till one gives up or blood comes out.

So it was similar but we would both swing at the same time and you would take turns.

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
our bloody knuckles consisted of trying to keep a quarter spinning on a table by taking turns flicking it, once someone knocked it over the had to press their fist against the table and the other guy, using his thumbs would fire the quarter against their knuckles.

Except blood did not stop the game, quitting only.
BB Butcher was fun, I am not sure if anyone else has heard of it. Its basically a game like this....Anyone who is playing that says a word that starts with a B, has to say BB Butcher or the other players gets to hit them until he does. If a player hits another player without that player saying something starting with a B, they get 2 chesties by each player. Full contact, no face shots. It was fun.

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
we used to play a game called "double-pits-to-chesty" what you had to do was do a backflip off a jump on a motorcycle and spray deoderant on both armpits and then your chest, then land the backflip, it was so stupid.

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
We played that steven but we called it flipin-pits.
In bloody knuckles the person on defense could try to dodge but if he dodged before the other person started to punch then the offense got a free hit. You played until someone gave up.

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
I played a game called "give a punch, take a punch" with a good friend of mine. It's as simple as it sounds, you trade punches until someone gives up. It's been years but I think I lost eventually. The next day my arms were black and blue all over(we hit the arms since we're friends) and my fists hurt. It was fun though.

What is it with guys and thinking self-destruction is fun?
We should make up a game where we take turns swatting the other person in the stomach with a Louisville Slugger. That sounds like fun, yes?
First person to enter cardiac arrest loses.

Well I can't speak for the others but when most young guys hang out they tend to rough each other up. Maybe you're experiences are different.

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
I wasn't criticizing, I just thought it was funny.
I grew up during the time where PC was high, and if you offended a student, you'd get completely chewed by a parent. So, I was babied through 5th grade... we had no fun.
The only fun I had in elementary school was soccer... and we've made full circle.

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
At my elementary school soccer was the game of choice. Of course, we used our hands, ran with the ball, and tackled each other. So it was more like rugby with forward passes, and then you drop kicked the ball into the goal.
I broke a kid's toe once. That's about as bad as it ever got.

Re: It's FOOTBALL not soccer!
When I was 7 we would do the thing where you grab someone around the chest and do something (I forgot how exactly to do it) and they pass out. We would just take turns letting someone knock us out over and over. That was probably really stupid. I think we only did it for a couple days.

the fun part is actually seeing someone else's self-destruction, getting kicked in the balls, having welts on your arm, blood knuckles, broken toe, etc. really isn't fun at all. but watching it happen to someone else is just good ole' wholesome american fun.
