Re: Team Contest V - Clash of the Titans I
I agree with the majority on the length being way too long to where it almost became more of an obligation than a fun competition. I think in future contests that we only allow some of the members participate and have members come "off the bench" so to speak (I realize that this is a little close in terminology to the last contest). I think this would alleviate scheduling conflicts for future contests.

yeah, it was a hassle every second day having to realise that we had little time to play a game. Especially with school.

13th place? Not bad for only being serious one round.

That probably would have made it much better.

I concur with the others who have said that the contest was a bit too long. Maybe choosing less games or having a longer window for people to play each game would make it less demanding. As much as I love RU, playing a new game every other day was taxing.
As far as the emulator, it worked pretty well for me. I had an occasional crash a few times (with Chicken Shift crashing the most), but no major issues. I hope that more Arcade games will be enabled in Full Mode, though.
Other than SFII Turbo, Shinobi, Raiden, Punch Out, Marble Madness, and X-Men, everything was new to me.
I enjoyed all of the games except for Volfied which I kind of hated (*Steven, don't worry buddy, I'm never coming after that score. Stellar score incidentally.*) To me the controls just felt broken, but I really enjoyed most of the other games we played.
Kong, by the way, I love the badge. Who is in the picture? Contextually I would guess , but armor wise I would guess . Is that close?

I wanted Perseus but I couldn't get him to look good in that small of an image. It is just some random gladiator.

Very cool. I will take the opinion that it is Maximus from Gladiator.

volfied's controls had a slight delay when changing direction, witch wasnt present in the arcade.

That's what it seemed like. Still you did really well in spite of that, so hats-off to you.

Well, as I told Ninja, I only joined because I was sick of only him, Kong and sometimes cam pulling the whole team. I tend to get very worked up during contests, and would rather not participate, but to see the Megamen do that horribly really ticked me off.
I just wish I knew how to join for the SPF2: Turbo, first time playing it, and had second place. I intend to get that score, cuz I really really like the game. I will tell you this now though. Now that I am back for good, I plan on making the Megamen bigger, better, and stronger. However, like how Tenser is with GOM, work comes first, my rest comes first. I can admit though all of my scores I submitted in the contest were like play one time to get the feel of it, second was submit. So I can't really see how my scores were great. :P
@Kong: I can say time issue was my BIGGEST concern. I work from 10pm-8am, and usually sleep 12 hours. So doing it on my 'on week' was a pain in the rear. It was very long, I personally enjoyed Dodgeball and who can beat the games first the most contest-wise. The only time the emulator lagged was when I submitted a "quarter" into the game. otherwise everything went fine. Few issues with Galaga '88 to get started though. Oh and... since we got TMNT will we be getting TMNT 4 coin op next update? Kinda disappointed TMNT wasn't used tbh.

I think you meant "just about everyone else on a team".

Re: Team Contest V - Clash of the Titans I
I kind of lucked out at the begining of the tournament(schedule wise) because I just got married and had two weeks off for vacation. That gave me more time to participate and post scores. If I hadnt had that time I cant say that I would have had enough time between work and life in general to play every game that was posted.
This time of year is getting harder since the holidays are getting closer. I work retail so this is the busiest time of year for me. I normally work 6 day weeks and genearly 8-11 hours a days.
I look forward to the next tournament but I agree that it should be streamlined so that it dosent run too long or require a lot of time to compete (which I like to do btw).
I did have fun this time around and hopefully EC can rise to the challenge again and take bring it home again.

You were very valuable to the team this contest Smitty. Your efforts were greatly appreciated.
I'm going to be in a similar situation soon, as many of the events I am involved will ramp up during the holidays as well. Hopefully the next contest will be a bit less time consuming.
I believe that EC will be there to bring our best. Whether we will always win or not, who knows? What we do know is we will always strive to fairly take the day and see if the Eternal spirit can rise to battle once more.
However, there are several good teams, so it will never be easy, but the challenge make the battle worthwhile.
