Well that's what bugged me about your last post. I took offense to you saying we're easily entertained, because that's offensive. Just because you think it's crap doesn't mean it is, like I said you should try it and see how easy it is. It looks simple but when you actually play it you'll see it takes a lot of skill and thought to do well. Personally I find entertainment in stuff that challenges my mind. I get bored by games full of killing and stuff blowing up, I guess I'm just not as easily entertained as you.

If you look at most of the classic pre-video game games - checkers, chess, go, dominoes, poker, mancala, etc. - the common thread is they are all simple to learn but infinity hard to master. There is always a more advanced level you can play at.

Tetris is like this. You can pick it up without instructions, play level 1 and instantly get the hang of it. Play until you get to a level that is too hard. For first time players that is probably level 3. But hang in there and you will be getting into triple digit levels. And still you will always eventually get to a level that is beyond you. Most other video games do not have this fundamental ingredient that makes a game "classic".

So saying you do not like Tetris is sort of like saying you do not like traditional board/card games. That's fine. But many people do.

i have played tetris and i also have the attention span of a ferret on crystal meth. so...it's just not as entertaining to me as it is to a true intellectual like you dudebro or kong. FFS, i personally just wouldn't put it in a damn best game ever category. end of discussion for me.

Everyone has their own tastes,
I dont mind tetris, I could sit there for hours playing it if I was on a train or somthing.
But I dont think Id actully play it here on RU.

fun fact: in nov. 97 egm ranked tetris as no.1 in their much hyped, top 100 games of all time list.
smb 3 was second, and lttp came in at a respectable third.

EGM was such a good mag. To this day it is probably still the only video game magazine (besides Nintendo Power) that I really enjoyed reading every issue.

Yeah, I remember the MKII issue where they had all the world exclusive of the new characters Kung Lao, Jax, Kitana, Baraka, and Mileena. The way it was done was so mysterious and really increased the anticipation for the arcade game.

I think that is the one. Mine is packed in a box in my garage, but I believe Kitana and Kung Lao are in the foreground.

Pong was a great breakthrough for home consoles, but now a day it just wouldn't compete for best game of all time.

Hi Rocket man, and welcome to RU, the best site on the net!

I like Tetris too, however I admit to not being the best player there ever was.
I'm terrible in fact.

So for me games like Tetris are interesting and fun to play but I can't really get too far so I lose interest quickly.
I prefer the 'gem' - arranging variety myself since it's a little less structured and you can 'fluke out' and get combos much easier.
