What is the next contest?
We will start a new contest next week. It will use ArcadeOX Coin-Op games.
Here are your choices:
- A team contest. "Clash of the Titans". The mods will choose 36 games. Each round the winning team will bench one player. The first team to put all their players on the bench wins.
- An individual contest. "Hang On". The mods choose 50 Coin-Op games. 5 players are eliminated each week. Repeat until there is only one person left. To win you will need to set, defend and steal the most high scores.
- A different ArcadeOX coin-op team contest.
- A different ArcadeOX coin-op individual contest.

Re: What is the next contest?
Clash of the titans would be a tournament, winner gets benched? Would this also be Coin-Op?

Re: What is the next contest?
For Clash, if 36 games are chosen, is there an assumption that there will be only teams of 6, or am I missing something?

Next contest will be Coin-Op games only.
In Titans each round all 4 teams will compete for the high score in one game. The team that gets the high score picks one person on their team to be eliminated. You win the contest by eliminating all of your team members. The more team members you have eliminated the harder it will be to get the high score. So winning puts you at a disadvantage.

Math. 4 teams of 8 = 32 games. I thought there was 9 people on each team.
Also don't forget, all the teams can recruit at least one more member before the next contest.

Correction. Your team score is averaged (counting all members highest submission, non-submissions count as 0). Your team average is then compared against the other three team's averages and the highest team average eliminates a member of theirs. Your only disadvantage as you eliminate members is that you will have a smaller pool of talent to assist you.

Re: What is the next contest?
Have you tried to join any teams? You are one of the most active people on RU, that seems like that would be good for a team.

Yes, but I don't want to be a hindrance to a team, I don't have a single trophy, but I've never spent more than 3 hours playing a retro game that wasn't an RPG or a puzzle game, and those kinds don't have scores.

Re: What is the next contest?
The next team contest will be Team Clash of the Titans.
It will start Friday the 28th at noon EST.
It will require ArcadeOX.
Each team can have 8 members. If you do not have 8 members by Friday then you will have a ghost player that submits zero points. So start recruiting now.
I will post the game rules here soon for comments and revising.
---------- Post added at 05:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:23 AM ----------
Clash of the Titans Rules - A round will last 48 hours and be divided into two 24 hour parts.
- The first 24 hours will be the competition day.
- The second 24 hours will be the rest day.
- During the contest day
- A mod will post a game link near noon EST.
- Everyone on your team will have until noon EST of the next day to compete for the high score.
- During the rest day
- The scores will be moderated and added to the score board.
- The scores for each team will be averaged.
- The team with the highest average will bench a member.
- You bench a member by posting their name.
- If the winning team fails to bench a member by the end of the rest day then they skip their turn and no one is benched.
- If there is a tie then no one is benched.
- If a team member does not submit a score then their score is zero and it hurts your average.
- If you do not have 8 members on your team then the remaining slots are filled by ghost players that submit zeros. You have to bench the ghosts like regular members.
- The team that benches all of their players first wins.
- This contest should last around a month.
If you see problems with this or just have suggestions post them now.

Re: What is the next contest?
Wow! That sounds pretty interesting. The team who has the most people actively participating should have an advantage then. Sounds like a fun contest.

Re: What is the next contest?
It sounds interesting. Im not sure how many people would want to stretch out a contest over a month but If there are enough people involved it could be fun. I might jump in on this one.

If you are interested, you should apply to join one of the teams Smitty. You have to be on a team to participate in the team contests.
