Re: Team Contest IV - Tournament I
what is the deal with breaking a million in this game, does the counter reset to 0 or is a 7th digit added?

@ Jim, I believe Tenser said the counter resets, but it locks in near 1,000,000 in the high score field I believe. I don't think a 7th digit is added. Consequently, theoretically there could be a tie situation in a game like this I believe.

[aside]Man, "consequently" is a really great word.[/aside]
Kong, in the unlikely circumstance of 2 players flipping the score, can we get a ruling or tie-break criteria in advance?

Re: Team Contest IV - Tournament I
I'm glad you like it Brodyman. I enjoy the word too.
I agree Jim. We need a ruling on this. I see two choices IMHO: 1) If someone rolls the score, any additional score in the score column can be added to the high score column for a total sum. For example, if the score caps at 999,999, then if someone goes on to score an additional 762,000 then the score could be approved as 1,761,999. This could become complicated if someone makes a math error in adding up the sums, but it might be a good way to go. 2) Establish another way to resolve a tiebreaker (i.e. Dice, One day tournament in something else, etc.) in the event that this occurs. I personally like the idea of something less random than Dice (like the highest score on some game in a defined period of time), but if Kong want to go the Dice way then so be it.

Re: Team Contest IV - Tournament I
The score caps at what ever it was before you rolled it over in the high score box. Theoretically this can be anywhere between 970,000 - 999,750. (30k being the highest single point value and 250 being the lowest.)
While I doubt this will happen, we should address this issue just to be safe.

I concur. Otherwise tenser and I will never make it out of the first round.

but i wouldn't be surprised if 999999 has been put up, or a score really close to it.

Re: Team Contest IV - Tournament I
It's probably unlikely that anyone will actually break 1,000,000 but it probably doesn't hurt to have a rule in place. It technically could happen I suppose.

Retro Uprising - Arcade - Tournament - Balloon Fight
Cassidy went down in the first round with a score of 927K...
I'd say that a score >1mm is not only possible, but very likely...and a tie ( or pair of flipped scores) is just slightly less likely with this group.

Re: Team Contest IV - Tournament I
how could this happen?! gameguru i will personally see to it, that from now on all your retrouprising gaming dreams shall go unfufilled!!!!!
on a serious note, if i had just a little more time i would have gotten the 999999, and im kinda thinking that this is what guru did, and as brodyman mentioned, there will no doubt be several 9's put up from here on out. its kinda lame to count the highest score this way, as in 999750 beats 999500 for the trophy. an alternative game might be in order (and of course i will be back in the new tournament )

Re: Team Contest IV - Tournament I
Closest to 999,999 wins the tournament. No credit for flipping the score. In the event of a tie a one week tournament in an arcade style game will determine the winner.

i'm assuming the closest to 9's will win the matchup and not the entire tournament?

I am sure that would be the case. The highest 999 score should take it right?

No hard feelings, cassidy. You set an awesome high score. I knew that you would, which is why my goal from the beginning was to get as close to 1m points as possible. ...You didn't make it very easy though.

highly questionable method of deciding an entire team tournament.
I think you should change the game for round 2 forward.

It's an easy thing to talk about setting 1,000,000 points, and another thing altogether to actually set it. If someone manages to set this high of a score (whether that be GOM, VB, or EC) and it comes down to 250, of 500 pts, then that person deserves to take the prize. Who knows though, just because something near this score was set once does not mean it can or will be set again. This is a very difficult game and it is not a small thing to set this high of a score.
---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------
Incidentally, I do see your point Brody. I don't necessarily think that a game which has a score that can be rolled/capped should have necessarily been the first choice for a final, but I believe the site mods voted on this (two of which are on your team) and chose this. I don't know that they realized that this score could be maxed at the time, but it remains that it is a very tough score to max and it is very unlikely that anyone will reach exactly the same score. If that happens then Kong did mention a contingency plan to decide the tournament.
I would just like to state that this has been a very interesting team contest. There has been more drama then I think anyone imagined possible. Very interesting! Very very interesting!

Re: Team Contest IV - Tournament I
the tournament page is all messed up, it has tanc and you switched on your spots in the bracket with tanc beating you, plus both of you eliminated in the finals.

Tanc, I think it has not yet gone on the the final round yet for Jim5Cents and Gamenguru because of the game glitch. I suspect that Kong may have to go in and manually move the tournament on to the next round.

Not sure what's going on Tanc. I saw the same things in the tournament bracket. It is saying that you beat tenser's score, but also that you are both eliminated.
As far as Jim5cents and I are concerned, it seems that our contest hasn't closed yet due to the glitch in the tournament window.
