all time favorite RPG

HI! i've never posted before but i was wondering...what rpg's does everyone like? i recently replaced my favorite with a game from retro uprising: ChronoTrigger. I cant believe i've never played this before and i had all of these consoles growing up! what rpg's does everyone else like? i might find another hidden treasure!

Chrono Trigger is definitely one of the best RPG's of all time, but my favorite was always FF III. I just loved the unique characters and the fact that you could pretty much customize (kinda) those characters anyway you wanted through the Esper system. The music was great, and Kefka was a fantastic arch enemy.

paper rpg's are okay. but i prefer video games. my brothers are too lazy to play D&D. also, secret of mana is really good. i like an rpg with a fun battle system. i think im gonna try some of these posts keep posting! i love trying new games!

Yeah I was never into pen and paper games but I can see how they are cool. So much detail involved and it's a lot more RP than most RPGs.
From what I hear Shadowrun has the coolest p&p game ever made.

If you want a challenge try The 7th Saga for Snes. It's pretty standard when it comes to level up, fight, dungeon crawl, ect, repeat but they really amp up the difficulty. Some people hated it but I loved the game the whole way through and it felt like you accomplished something when you finally leveled up enough to beat that insane boss battle.

If you want a unique RPG try Inindo for Snes. Again it's battle system isn't anything new but the rest of the game is unusual.
There's not many ninja rpgs out there and I doubt any others let you sit down and have tea with potential party members. Worth a play even if you don't think you'll like it.

I'm currently revisiting that game right now. It has a certrain feel that a lot of RPG's didn't have at the time. And yes...they're definitely not holding your hand when it comes to the difficulty.

Shadowrun was a decent P&P game. Forgotten Realms was the most awe inspiring under the shear amount of detail.

My favorite was the Ravenloft series.

A lot of people haven't played because it was exclusive to Neo Geo CD, but one of my all time favorite RPG's that I own is Samurai Spirits RPG (Samurai Shodown is the U.S. name). The text was all in Japanese too, so most westerners haven't played it, but it was awesome!

Samurai Showdown was a fighting game I thought.

The series is a fighting game series DB, but they made one RPG game starring the characters from the fighting game. It was excellent!

wow. a samurai showdown rpg? sweet! i wish i tried that! also i enjoyed forgotten realms so much that i made my own storyline and played it with my brothers. i love drizzt! R.A. Salvatore knew what he was doing when he made that one!

i couldnt stand the final fantasy games
they were awfull

unless somebody knows one that will entertain me

i do play that annoying game "mafia wars" on myspace
but even that is awfull

I don't know if you can play it online anywhere (maybe, but I don't know where), but it was a lot of fun. It had all the moves from the fighting game, but in a turn based RPG. It was great.

Sez, you'd probably be better off with something that's either an RPG-lite like Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest or that's an action/adventure like Secret of Mana and Zelda.

Wow I can't believe I didn't think of that. Sez would probably love those two since she could be a pirate and terrorize the 7 seas. Either that or defend the crown from all those bloody foreigners(yeah right).

I suggest Pirates Gold mainly though, the turn based fighting of UW might bore her.

Mafia Wars is a simple little browser game with RPG elements. There's tons of them just like it.

I would say Chrono Trigger, it's story, graphics, gameplay, and sound are all masterful, making it one of the best RPGs and games of all time. Multiple endings create replay value, and it's fun to play through for these endings. The characters are relatable, and this game made me feel sorry for robo after

you think he dies and then you find him alive, and you repair him. Then Lucca asks him what he wants do do and then he says nobody ever asked him that. A tearjerking moment for me.
