Re: Underrated Games
that really sucks eh?theres so many great games that never make it to our shores because we have "different tastes" i wonder why the ff nes titles never made it over, ff 1 did good here. i know the dragon quests that didnt make it was because of financial reasons. anyway, it sucks theres tons and tons of awsome games we'll never see.

It's all about money. Not enough people are into good games. Most americans want sports or fps games.

Sports games/ shooters aren't bad, but they're overused to the point of being ridiculous. Very rarely will an FPS stand out, the only stand-out FPS I've played from this generation is bioshock (fallout 3 is an RPG with FPS elements, so it doesn't count)

You should play Shadowrun then. It's the shiznit.
I didn't say sports and fps are bad, I like most fps games. I'm just sick of how every year or less we get a "new" one.

Nah I mean stuff like Madden or CoD. New games come out for them and they are mostly the same thing as last time. People keep buying them though.

I don't mind this, but I mind the fact that people see getting a high score on these games more of an accomplishment than being good at a real instrument.
A very underrated game is Mario 2 (Doki Doki Panic), people only hate it for not being a real mario game, and don't accept the game's good aspects.

Yeah and? I agree those are bad too. In fact I think they are the biggest rip off in video games atm. The release a new one and people run out and buy it, why can't the songs just be downloaded?
Also I heard it costs more to download the old songs(from previous versions) than it does to buy the disc itself. That's a scam.
I do like those games but they need to be more consumer friendly.
@laserboy, since when is Mario2 underrated? Maybe when compared to other mario games but overall it's very well known and liked, I think.

Re: Underrated Games
mario 2, awsome game, one of my favorite marios.
rock band/guitar hero, you cant really classify these with c.o.d. or madden or whatever, because these games are a genre all to themselves, i like the games and dont mind the rehashes.

Re: Underrated Games
I understand what Steven is saying. There are so many varities, types, and preferences to musical taste their needs to be a lot of them for it to work.
I agree with Dudebro though. The product is in great need of consumer friendlyness. I imagine its difficult because unlike iTunes where nothing is invested by adding a song to the database, GH requires some type of extra processing (I'm guessing here) which would cause for a song to cost more than $1 like it does on iTunes.

Re: Underrated Games
I doubt it costs them much at all to have people do the DLC thing. It's become the norm for next gen systems.
Having people buy a new guitar hero/rock band for every band or genre is like buying a new radio to hear different stations. There's no doubt it's all about how much money they can take from people. Eventually people will get sick of it and the games will change how they do things.

Re: Underrated Games
Amongst gamers, people who know of it as Doki Doki hate it, the Irategamer tore into it, called it bad, Screwattack called it the ninth worst Mario game, and most people find out about it's fakeness and refuse to play it.

1. The IrateGamer is just an act and his reviews (and AVGN's) are not meant to be taken seriously.
2. Amongst what gamers? We're all gamers here and I would guess that most of us don't hate it.
3. The SMB2/Doki Doki Panic is extremely common knowledge.

Even though I don't care about this argument, that is not true. It may be common to someone like you or even me, but it's hardly extremely common relative to how many people like/play Mario.

-tries not to rant on Irate's rip-offness-
We know, though, I have friends who know this, they hate the game a lot. I hear so much crap being said about this game that it's insane. I didn't even know about SMBDDP until a few months ago.

It's fairly unknown, only "hardcore" gamers (a term i don't agree with) know about it/

No reason. I just believe that SMB2 is the better of the three SMB games for the NES.

No, but I do think its underrated being in the shadow of SMB3.

Re: Underrated Games
I think both games are great but SMB3 does have more to it. I can see why it's more popular. But I think SMB2 wins for having Toad as a playable character.
