Will the lawsuit that Nintendo started with the rom sites affect this site?

Emuparadise removed their download links of their own volition. It had nothing to do with Nintendo directly.

N sued LoveRoms last month prompting emuparadise to voluntarily/preemptively delete all their roms.

The odd thing is, this has happened a few times throughout the years, maybe not on the lawsuit front but Nintendo has definitely struck ROM hosting sites and asked them to remove their ROMs specifically; notably, CoolROM. The fact that it took EP this long to do it is weird to me.

Whatever the case, I don't think this spells the end for emulation or game preservation like doomsayers are saying on Twitter and the like. It's definitely a loss, but I'm not . . . extremely worried or anything.

Typically they go through Cease and Desist orders and DMCA Takedowns. This is different. They are suing Love Roms for Hundreds of Millions of $$$.

No way in hell roms are in any danger of going extinct, when I got my raspberry Pi I pretty much dl'd the entire emuparidise site. I've got roms upon roms buried in old computers/hard drives/cds/flash drives/sd cards... and there are bajillion other people who have the same.

When it was time to add Super Mario Bros. for the NES to the Virtual Console Nintendo had lost all copies of the original ROM so they downloaded an SMB ROM from the Internet and added it to the VC.

SMB is one of the most popular and profitable games of all time and if we had left it up to Nintendo to archive it, it would be lost. If that could have happened to SMB, think of the chances of less popular games surviving without emulation and ROM archiving.

They have a legitimate complaint about Love Retro but they are missing the point when they create a blanket statement that all emulation is bad or that all emulation hurts them.
