Scoring System
IGBY 1- 1st got 30 points and 30th got 1 point
I think we should go to the scoring system that strain was suggestion for yolympics 1st=30 2nd=25 3rd=21 4th=18 5th=16 6th=15 ect. of course the point values would have to be changed

Re: Scoring System
Not a fan of that, I like the way IGBY1 was done. 30 to 1, I think it worked ok.
The trouble with the 30, 25, 21 etc system is that you will get certain teams with gun players, and we know who they are from the last IGBY, who dominate games and it will make the teams even more unmatched.
Short of doing 30 to 1, we could always look at the % system. Top scores get's 100 points and the remaining 29 scores gets a % of the top score. It leaves room for people to try and improve on their scores, no matter how little it might be.

Re: Scoring System
The percentage versus straight rank debate is one I've been a part of MANY times, and the answer is always, "It depends." I'm fine with a hybrid of the two systems where we choose the scoring system for each game, but I'm guessing that adds a lot of other questions, considerations, and technical challenges. If that's possible, though, it's arguably the best way to make this work. We can check with Wes on the scoreboard side, and try to discuss a few scenarios ourselves, maybe?

Re: Scoring System
Thinking about it, I'm not sure the % system is a good idea for IGBY.
Some of the games last time had the ability for really ridiculously high scores, this is where the % system can fail big time. If only one or two people can get these stupidly high scores, it makes everyone else's score if effectively worth nothing.

Re: Scoring System
I have a question. Say team A grabs scores 1-10 for a game and team B grabs score #11. What would their point award be since each team only gets their top 5 scores? Are scores 6-10 for team A discarded putting team B at #6?

Re: Scoring System
Yes. That's the beauty of it.
Intra and inter-team competition. Delicious!
And having 30 players means 25 disappointed players.

This would be correct, Don. If Team A had scores 1-10, the top 5 scores from those 10 scores would be chosen and then the next team would start with 6. However, if team B has a score higher than the top 5 of team A, team A's effective rank could look something like: 1,2,3,5,6.

Re: Scoring System
Correct, your 6th man can't bump other teams down in points.
