M. Night Shymalan. I guess for me it is a little personal. I used to think he was a great director, but slowly, and surely got worse, and worse to the point where "The Last Airbender", and "After Earth" should be considered unintentional comedies.

The difference is that Uwe Boll is panned by critics AND fans of the material. Sandler has lots of fans who buy tickets and physical copies of his movies. Has he ever been considered a success with movie critics?

That being said I agree he's really bad recently but some of the stuff isn't unwatchable, like Chuck and Larry. That movie was funny.

This is also seen in that movie he starred in with Jack Nicholson called 'Anger Management', where those two were supposed to share a bed, and JN says something to him like:

'In Europe, it's not unusual for several men to share a bed together.'

to which AS replied:

The message:

European men are gay, and often share the same bed.
By the way, being gay is bad somehow, and gays are to be made fun of at every opportunity.

I'm not even gay and I find this insulting.
By the way, AS's films suck every bit as much as Will Farrell's and I avoid both.

Yeah that's the point of the movie really. These guys are typical macho guys who don't approve of being gay. Chuck and Larry enter into a sham gay marriage so Larrys kids will be covered under his insurance and he won't have to quit his job and lose his pension. Their fellow firefighters don't take this news well(they don't know it's a sham) and they treat them like lepers or sexual predators(the whole "afraid to drop the soap" thing). Ving Rhames recently came out to Sandlers character so he feels like he can be himself finally. The other guys are already afraid of him because he's big, black and kinda mean so they don't know what to do when he starts singing and acting feminine.

The movie starts out treating these issues poorly and stereotypically but near the end they realize that gay people are like everyone else and they deserve the same dignity. It's actually a good message despite the immature comedy. At the very least it's a good thing for Sandlers fanbase to see because a lot of them are probably homophobes to some degree.



Sandler typically plays the same character in all his movies. Typical ignorant guy who is only interested in sex and being a guy. Anger Management is no exception.


Btw I dunno if we can be friends anymore if you keep talking shit about Will Ferrel like that. I don't laugh out loud much but his movies tend to make me do that. Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory are awesome movies bro.

Well then if the scene is taken out of context and the situation finds some resolution later on in the movie then that's different.
But taken as it is, and in conjunction with that one scene from Anger Management I quoted, you can see how it looked.
