Pretty sure I tried it years ago too. The craziest one I've been on was called something like the freefall. You stand up straight and the cage drops fast. At one point it feels like the cage is floating free of the ride and then it hits the bottom curve with a lot of force. I remember it actually hurt but we went on it over and over. It was at Rocky Point, some of you older New Englanders might remember it. It had a giant clam bake buffet thing next door.

Thanks SC for bringing back some good memories, and perhaps even a little story ..

I used to be a 'ride wimp' when I was young, and even when I became 'tall enough' to go on most of the rides, I was hesitant despite other peoples' reports of how fun those 'big kid' rides were.
Then one day, I got coaxed onto The Enterprise, seen in the foreground:

But I have to say that The Zipper is more scary than either of these two; the way your individual cage flips around - which has to do with the way you are seated and how that affects your center of gravity - is legendary.

What's even worse than The Zipper?

I've never been to a theme park before, All I have ever experienced are the ones that travel from town to town setting up and tearing down over night. The greasy carnies seem to be a thing of the past though, last time I remember it was a bunch of teens in uniforms.

Carnies have a terrible reputation, don't they?

They brought it on themselves!

The pics I posted are from the Pacific National Exhibition, a permanent fairground site here in Vancouver; the video of the Salt and Pepper Shaker is random from youtube.

I suppose I should add that my girls are fearless, none of that 'scared to ride' on this or that like I had when I was young.
Then again it seems like kids aren't afraid of much nowadays.
