I can understand some people wanting a bunch of merchandise, I might do it for a game like DQ. Get some super sweet slimes to place around the house or whatever. But in this case, you are not even getting the game. It's retarded, no other industry has a retarded enough fanbase for this to be an acceptable practice. It's selling a bunch of cheap crap, under the guise of being a pre-order bonus.
Regardless of whether you guys think this is a super sweet deal or not, this is most definitely an example of why consoles are becoming less a less a viable option for more and more studios.

How do you come to that conclusion? To me this is just another collectors item for uber fans with money to burn. If someone is fooled by it they deserve to waste their money for not reading the clear warning.

Well can we at least all agree they should stop throwing around the word "edition"?

Re: The Death of Gaming
Well to be honest, it's Bethesda. You're probably better off buying the collector's stuff now and waiting a year for the actual game to be 25% less buggy.

Re: The Death of Gaming
This was inevitable after it was known that Index was cooking the books and shifting assets in shell corporations for a while. At least the Atlus brand got away from the company in time.

Re: The Death of Gaming
That's pretty shameful for a company like Nintendo. People think of them as different, now they're just Japanese Microsoft. This marketing also seems a bit desperate.

This is nothing new from them, remember the late 80's early 90's. They were over the top with this stuff. Although I don't recall them ever including anything in game...

So long as the game has free updates like it says I don't see the harm.

Re: The Death of Gaming
It's definitely a worrying trend to get started on but from what I hear that game is nearly completed anyways so it's not like it's in alpha or even beta, it should be stable and playable. If they did it with something like Starbound I'd be against it because that's early access but has whole sections that are incomplete.

I don't get why they'd have a limit. They want you to buy less of their product?

Re: The Death of Gaming
Report:
Errything DOOMED! 178% of gamers now play only on Trac Phones. Consoles? Ded. Portables? Ded. PC? Ded. 100% of market now demands F2P smartphone shovelware. Steve Jobbs' rotting corpse dug up and reanimated to meet increasing demand. Consumers demand that all downloaded F2P games now come with a shiny plastic box so "they feel like they own it." All analysts agree; the video game industry is now perfect. Zynga CEO Don Mattrick now elected King of Earth.
TIME TO GAME ON!
