What about the tournament trophies?

Looking other players profiles, it seems in the past you received "trophies" in your profile for each competition that you won, including other goals. What's the rules about it?

Moved to Retro Uprising Support.

Badges are given for contests in the past usually through team-oriented contests. Sometimes through yearly voting threads as well. We haven't had any this year to my knowledge.

The ones Wolfman runs are usually just for fun or the prizes come out of his own (generous) hands.

The big contests are usually teams and such. Those are created by Kong/Mods and the prize is usually badges.

And about the monthly contests ran by Kong? I thought that those were the currently "official" competitions... but single, not team contests.

It seems I arrived late here in RU, because I heard that in the past the competitions and the rankings had a lot more players involved! Yep, anyone has his priorities, free time, etc... but do you have any idea what can be done to help regarding that currently? I usually invite and divulge RU to others.

Are you talking about increasing activity? From 2008 to around 2010 the site was pretty active as were contests but since then, people just aren't as active in the contests and it loses its fun when not everyone is participating. We could run a poll to gauge interest in another big contest.

We do have the 2013 Gaming Champ contest that does reward the winner a badge.

It's not a big deal to me but I've been curious. What happened to the yearly awards like best score and best mod? Seems I once won for best new member but never got a trophy. I'm guessing somewhere along the line it was decided that they wouldn't be done anymore but never heard anything for sure.

This isn't quite on topic but thought it was close enough to post here.

We (The mods and admins) have actually recently talked about this in the mod section. The plan is to hand out the awards soon. We are sorry for the long wait, somewhere along the way, we lost mind of it. But don't worry, the badges you won for the yearly awards will definitely be handed out.

It's also not a big deal for me, but I think these kind of stuff ever increase the "site playability" and "site activity".
It's not good see many "new players" like TodayIsForgotten, JIG, INNUENDO, Sawys, me(?)... doing a good job without any badge/trophy. It would motivate, in my opinion. Just my 2 cents

I agree fully. I'd like to see more active contests such as a revival of this
