Re: Twingalaxies down
Twin Galaxies is offline again. You can view the entire TG score database at ChamPOW ~ Every Video Game World Record.
ChamPOW is still a work in progress but as of right now it is the only complete copy of TG scores.

Why is this change happening? As the newest co-owners of Twin Galaxies, we came aboard earlier this year and brought our expertise in digital marketing and technology, and a life-long passion for video game culture. We set out to take the website and online presence in a new direction, help restore integrity in the iconic company, and help TG regain its rightful place in the global gaming community. We developed the social website and scoreboard systems for use by the Twin Galaxies community and worked tirelessly for months to build on Walter Day's vision. It was working. On November 20th, it was made abundantly clear that our vision for Twin Galaxies was no longer in alignment with the vision of the other owners, and we were moving in very different directions.
Although, we don't know what the future holds for Twin Galaxies, we do sincerely hope that Walter's legacy and vision for the gaming community, which we all believe in and worked hard to keep alive, will live on and endure for many many years to come. Give them some time to get a site online, and please continue to support Twin Galaxies.
GamerLife365.com will be here to support and partner with any individual or organization that is focused on advancing the global video game community and the many talented people who possess a passion for video games. We have tons of new and exciting things planned for you over the next several months. We hope you login often and enjoy the site, its yours!

Check your email account that you sign into Tg with Paul.
Failing that try your spam folder as it went straight in there for a lot of people.

Re: Twingalaxies down
heres a scoop from facebook...
This is NOT Twin Galaxies. TG will be back at www.twingalaxies.com. GamerLife365 is a desperation attempt by the old TG webhost to stay alive without the TG name.
They are trying to pull something shady. Who knows exactly what is going on, but I know 100% for a fact the GamerLife365 is not TG. It's the old TG webhost.
and what you laughing at, Tails?

Re: Twingalaxies down
Okay, I'm here because of this whole Twin Galaxies bull crap.
I do not understand why the heck this company can't pull themselves together.
Do NOT let your company site be down for half a year!!!!!
Do NOT charge for score submissions!!!
Do advertise the heck out of your website. Youtube do this with commercials.
Do have a yearly or bi-yearly fundraiser. Set up a clear budget and ask the community for donations. This will offset the costs. Have fundraisers at events possibly.
Sell products such as the trading cards.
Get big gaming companies involved such as Nintendo, Sega and others.
Honor your champions and promote them to the public like Hank Chin.
Create an all around gaming league!!!!! jk
But seriously.......
If you have volunteers do not overload them with submissions. It maybe hard to find people to trust, but if using volunteers have many of them per console/platform so nobody gets burnt out.
Also if using volunteers possibly give them a paycheck. It might not be exactly what they are credited for, but even a little bit can help. The funds for this would be from Twin Galaxies and not the players directly.
Get people interested in this high score community. The more people you have the more people can donate.

Re: Twingalaxies down
There is some guess work in this post but I don't think it is too far off the mark.
The gamerlife website is owned by Erik Belusic.
Erik Belusic was a co-owner of Twin Galaxies.
Erik Belusic is the guy that designed the Twin Galaxies website last year. I think he was offered some sort of partnership in exchange for his work.
Something went wrong and the co-owners of Twin Galaxies no longer like each other.
After the split up Erik Belusic kept the website and user accounts and turned that into gamerlife.
The other co-owners, whcih I think is just Richie Knucklez or 1-Up, owns the Twin Galaxies name and I think the score database.
That puts Richie and TG in the same place they were last year. They have the name and 35 years worth of records but no ability to do anything with it.
Erik's new site lists Cat DeSpira, Brent Martin and Rich Booth as contributors. That might mean that those people chose to abandon TG or it might mean that Erik just left their names on the site when he copied everything.
A few months ago Cat was really angry at me because I made a back up of the TG scores. I wonder if she still thinks that was a bad idea.

Re: Twingalaxies down
^ wow, thanks for the explanation kong.
All I want is to have an official place to set high scores that is recognized as the top place to submit. I don't care how it gets done, it just needs to get done.
I don't have too many hobbies, but submitting to TG was one of my top ones. Why do I always have to be involved in some hobby that's like this. The only thing that matters to me and that I can count on has their website down all the time. :@
---------- Post added at 02:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:36 PM ----------
And also just think how disrespectful this is to all of the players who worked so are to accomplish their goals only to have a company like not give a hoot about even having a website to view them on.
Remember the Q-bert score ?
just think how that guy feels when TG is constantly unstable. He might not even be surprised if TG closed and he never got recognition for his score again.
TG by being so unstable puts all record holders under stress because the record holders aren't sure about if their record will even last or not.

Re: Twingalaxies down
From Richie Knucklez today
Quote:
over the past week, I have received numerous emails and phone calls concerning Twin Galaxies and my involvement. The day after I returned home from the Kong Off 3 I was informed by phone call I was no longer part of Twin Galaxies. In all honesty, in the short time it seemed like I had my hand on one of the ropes. I did not. I had nothing to do with the decision to charge for submissions, and I never once had access to the database. The time spanned between the Kong Off 2 and Kong Off 3 my personal life took a terrible turn for the worse and just trying to stay alive took precedence over Twin Galaxies. This is no way is an attempt to sling mud, but the sad truth is I had great ideas and visions of a network of Barcades/Arcades/Home collections all across the world unified, doing contests, celebrating gamer's accomplishments. Whenever there are partnerships involved, different egos clash and blame gets thrown. Large knives end up landing in unexpecting backs. I am deeply saddened by where the chips landed but I only hope the best for Walter's legacy. I do not have any answers. Even though it sounded like I was part of the machine, I come to find out I never really was. I feel like a huge fool and can only pick up the pieces and do what I do best. For now that job is being a single Father. I am sorry for those I have let down.
Friends; feel free to contact me privately. sorry this message was so vague

Re: Twingalaxies down
it is madness.
what about all the people who already paid for submissions?
i had my bomb jack record kindly paid for, it was $125. seems like a terrible waste, and a unified con.
i can't believe there is this much politics in video games...

125 dollars for a score submission? No offense to anyone but that should've been an obvious red flag. Total scam.

Re: Twingalaxies down
indeed. unbelievable. this top gent posted a thread to pay for 5 submissions, so i sat down and played bomb jack. 16 hour game. (available to view on MARP.)
you know what? only 3 people entered!!!! and the first entry was from a guy who done the TG podcast show!
so the TG web address has been hijacked by websignia or whatever they're called, and the "real" TG will be coming back online sooner or later...
confusing stuff...

Re: Twingalaxies down
If it wasnt the end of TG before it certainly is now. Any of the die-hards who stuck around after the last debacle are sure to give up?
I see quite a few other websites now trying to take over what TG once was.

I remember seeing this and declining his offer, even though I would have liked to get some of my scores verified. The problem with someone else paying for you is that okay say someone pays this time, but what about next time and the time after that?
I am a player who constantly submits scores on a regular basis so having someone pay my way once isn't going to cut it. I need free submissions.
I don't mind donating to an organization who provides this service, but an order for anyone to submit and to make this hobby fun it has to be free submissions. I personally believe in a donation model for TG. I'd probably donate $100 a year.

BWAAAAHAAA ....HAAAA...HAAAA ( LOL!)
I wouldn't trust Walter to figure out why snow is cold let alone "fix" TG.
Here's a man that either 1) can't read his own scoreboard. or 2) sells out gamers historic milestones to the highest bidder for his own financial gain.
These statements are documented in fact and are not my opinion. If anyone has a rational argument against them I'd like to hear it.
The only way I would submit anything to TG is if Walter, Billy and Steve were banished from the gaming scene forever for the premeditated disenfranchising scam they pulled 7 years ago commonly refered as KOK, or apologized and made amends.
Unfortunately the gaming scene kept enabling these three hucksters for the sake of fame and profit.....and all the stupid gamers that felt they were apart of the KOK wave................now look what you have.
Seth Gordan is probably laughing his ass off at all the stupid gamers he was able to exploit thanks to walter.

Re: Twingalaxies down
You know, I just submitted my Wii NBA Jam record to Twin Galaxies (first one i've paid for since the new model) because it's one of the records I'm really finicky about. And wouldn't you know... two days after I mailed it off - this b.s. happens.
Last year when the site was down, and everything was in limbo... I don't remember how, but I stumbled on ChamPow -and I for one was glad there was a record of the database somewhere.
I didn't know until yesterday with this all-new debacle that Guinness had canceled their contract some time ago. Part of my motivation to bother sticking with TG was that it was a path into the Guinness book. (I'm lucky enough to have been printed in 2010 and 2012 - for NBA Jam even!) And also the legacy, I suppose. But without that - there's not much reason to bother.
The other big thing is that there's a lot of sites and communities for arcade gaming/scores - but there seems to be an almost universal disdain among arcade gamers about tracking console scores. I really liked that there was an organization to track stuff like Goldenaxe, Road Rash, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, etc.
I'm definitely interested in continuting my hobby by submitting to ChamPOW - and doubly so, if you can get a line into the Guinness stuff.
