@Stevencassidy13 - Thanks a lot brother! It means a lot! Coming from a site " TG " were no one talks to their members unless theres a serious question or someone breaks the rules! The people here are so friendly and this site is sooo awesome! I look forward to Befriending more people and chatting with you guys more often! Happy gaming!

Well I said that I was going to try and roll over the score. Made it almost half way and at the same time shattered any known score on this game that I'm aware of on Gulf Storm.

If a score of yours get's beaten try and improve. If you can't beat it back it's not the end of the world.

For me at the end of the day what I love about this site is no matter how many scores I eventually lose, (It's inevitable) It is very easy and accessible for me to try and get them back and if I don't, that's OK. I get the opportunity to compete against some awesome players, and there is no shame in losing to a better player.

Also, try logging onto their site and finding a Guinness graphic anywhere, you can't.

Some guy claiming to have been on the Guinness VG team said the same on the boards+every record had a Guinness seal next to it is now a #1 seal.

I used to work for Guinness, and I left because I was in charge of the Guinness Gaming World Records book, which worked fine for a while, until TGI was taken over, and they started to charge for scores. The money required to verify scores was against the founding rules of Guinness, which was that either the poorest person in the world, or the richest one could hold a Guinness World Record, but this site asking for fees was the straw that broke the camels back. I resigned a while ago because of this.

The people who took over from me obviously took my resignation to heart. I did keep in touch with those people, and heard that over 1200+ people emailed in with concerns and complaints about the new TGI owners charging people, and they deliberated over the founding rules, and overwhelmingly decided to cancel the contract between Guinness and TGI, making all scores, past, present and future not Guinness World Records, but TGI records.

They (Guinness) are in contact with other online score database keepers, because they wish the Gaming Record book to continue every year. Several website names have been bounded about, but for contractual reasons, I cannot mention anything that I have heard.

Wonder if they would consider RU

Twin Galaxies was fantastic. The new owners were told time and time again from day 1 that paid submissions wouldn't cut it, yet they ignored everyone. I really had hopes of one day being listed in the official printed Guinness Book of Gamer Records, but I was never ever going to pay for that - well not the $100 or so it would cost with exchange rates, postage etc.

In a way it's sad what has happened, but in another way I feel like the new owners got exactly what they deserved. They bad mouthed the previous owners and now the saviors of TG have all but destroyed it.

I'm sure Walter won't make a comment publicly, but I'd really love to hear his thoughts on what has happened to his baby. Of course, he all but gave his blessing to the change over knowing (I'd assume) full well what was planned.

So what is next? I'll get in contact with Guinness with my arcade world record and find out what is next. The big problem with no official arcade scorekeeper is that it is very open to non legitimate scores getting into their pages. Without a background in gaming, how will they know what DIP switches they are looking at? how will they know if leeching is involved.

Someone needs to take the ball and run with it - unfortunately this will probably mean doing it at no cost to the gamer, but there are other ways to increase revenue if that's what you want and there are a hell of a lot of people who are more than willing to volunteer their time to verify scores.

Absolutely BumpNJump! I just wish GWW would actually consider Looking over MAME scores Because RU does in fact use a VERY credible version of MAME to review scores as you can watch the playback and actually tell if there is any " Funny Business" going on during your Play. Just really sucks that they wouldn't consider. Hopefully they may change their mind one day!
