Yeah but as far as I'm aware David Nelson was all good. Wonder if MAME will be included under the arcade TG

Re: Where the heck is Twin Galaxies!?
Timmell = Michael sroka
I could agree if he was coming back under the same management but since it has changed anything can happen.
I resigned my management retail job coz the executives were a bunch of loonies, now that the reigns have been taken over I would consider going back.
They better have MAME.

This is a GREAT analogy of whats really happening!
However, millions of people will watch a game of basketball. Millions of people don't care to watch a video game performance.

Re: Twin Galaxies reveal new future....
Interesting. This means if I submit a score for a game like say Super PacMan I will have to pay TG over $1,500. Then someone will have to try and accept the fact, after they have the money.......if I've read correctly that what they are viewing is true and possible. That is .... messed up. For Jr PacMan it would cost over $1,000. Ok. So cool I have two records and I am out $2500. I thought the record holders, in other competitive venues, made money......
Sometimes watching a recording is easier to accept than watching it in person. If my math is right Rick Carter would hve to come up with $3000 to submit his Nibbler record.
That is messed up.
That is like Albert Pujols, or Josh Hamilton in MLB paying the MLB Commissioner $1000 to hit home runs each and every time.
That is messed up.
Sounds like TG just wants to collect money and then say perhaps, hey your score is so high and so unbelievable we don;t accept it. But we keep your money.
That is messed up.
We all may have to support this new web site

MAME is the modern way to play video game arcade machines just as e-mail is the modern way to mail a letter.

Re: Twingalaxies down
Richie posted another update today:
"While we continue to work towards a brand new experience for our fans and the gaming industry, we do have some fantastic announcements to make!
As we all wait frustrated for the database to return online, do not think for a second that we are at a standstill. Originally we hired a professional web design firm to finally bring the Twin Galaxies web experience to the modern era. After months of waiting on pins and needles for even a quote, a few days ago we were sticker shocked by a price tag more than what we paid for the company. That coupled with at least a 6 to 8 week turn around, really hit Jourdan and I hard.
The very same day I found a new web design firm,
(Comprised of all Gamers!)
who were more than stoked to tackle our project.
Today “1/10/2013” marks day one that they have the entire historical archives as it was on the day it went dark. Join me in prayer to the Arcade Gods that this is the answer to this debacle.
WE WILL NOT take over Twin Galaxies and just rehash the same garbage that has been passed off as the “leaders of the industry”.
I feel we must start with brick one and rebuild so that your respect is earned. I promise you no platform will be abandoned. I am also proud to announce that legendary gamer Pat Laffaye has joined our staff as my right hand man utilizing his “Live Contest Scoring System”
Pat also expressed interest in heading up the MAME division since he has had such a big role in the success of MARP."

Re: Twingalaxies down
There better be MAME!
I have spent too many hours getting these scores for someone to just get rid of them.
Some of my best video game accomplishment are some of my MAME WR's.

I'm feeling pretty bummed about the forums - everything GONE!
All those blogs, all those stories about various WR attempts, all that cheap thrift-shop eye candy, tips on obscure games, the friendly banter of the TG community, all those contributions, even the controversial stuff and the wacky chaps having their say, all TG history ... GONE

Re: Twingalaxies down
That sounds like what happened with Xbox.com. They updated the site and destroyed the old one. This caused lots of regulars to leave because all their efforts were slashed and burned for no apparent reason. Now the forum is a wasteland of bitter people arguing. It used to be vibrant and fun. I bet something similar with happen with TG if what I'm reading is all true.

From what I heard, the old forums will supposedly be archived. Hopefully that is the case so all that history is not lost.

Re: Twingalaxies down
Yeah, remember that Home Alone NES WR score. Rudy challenged Marc's score and nobody took him seriously and then WOW he was right. LOL That's got to be archived.
Hey guys I got a question. Does anyone have a link to the official TG approved MAME emulator? I want to start working on setting a MAME score, but I deleted my emulator off my computer because get this " I was trying to kick the addiction of video games by removing them off my computer " anyway I don't think that I can avoid playing these games now so yeah and the link that I used to use in the forums doesn't exist because the forums no longer exist.
Actually this whole thing just really pisses me off.
1.) The TG website and forums should have NEVER been taken down. The only time the site should be going down is when they are uploading the new one.
2.) They didn't even leave the settings and stuff up so that current people and still set records during the Christmas break. I'm a student and the only times that I really get a change to sit down and take my records seriously are when I'm not in school.
Normally this ENTIRE Christmas break would have been spent setting records, but NOOOOOOO since the settings aren't up I wouldn't even know if I were playing the games on the correct settings or not.
3.) This whole new TG thing just has put a big unpleasant dent in my usual score setting attitude that I normally have.
4.) I actually bought myself a REAL arcade machine for my x-mas present to myself. Its a Street Fighter 2 and now since the site is down. I can't even see what the current SF score is!
I'm just pissed off at a lot of stuff.
Don't take the site down until you have a new one to put up.

I believe its wolf MAME 1.06 correct me if I'm wrong.
Now I don't have to worry about not being able to set records!
As soon as Twin Galaxies opens up, there are going to be suprised by me.

It's not a backup by TG.
WolfMAME 0.106 is what we use. If you needed I can send you the file.

Re: Twingalaxies down
You can download the version of WolfMAME that was required by Twin Galaxies (WolfMAME .106) from Index of /
A direct link to the self-extracting zip file for WolfMAME .106 is http://wolfmame.marpirc.net/wolfmameplus-0106.exe
Note that WolfMAME is actually written and maintained by a MARP editor for MARP, and Twin Galaxies just decided to start using it as well.

Got it! Thanks man.
FYI I found a MAME game that I now realize that I can marathon.
I believe that I can take this score on this game to new heights that have never been achieved before.
I have the top score on TG, but the MARP record is way higher and currently beats me.
Buw I know how to blow away the MARP score!
This just may be the longest marathon score I have ever set. It may well be over 24 hours!
I'm basically just going to play until I passout. You will see it when the new Twin Galaxies comes back.

Have you tried to set the record on RU? You should be able to set that right away and go ahead and get the record in place. Why wait?

Re: Twingalaxies down
ChamPOW is the site I am working on to track all official game scores. It will not be limited to just Twin Galaxy scores. It is still in early stages.
Hopefully Twin Galaxies will use a newer version of MAME when they return. Freezing at .106 is stupid.

Thanks, but sadly this is one of those games where Twin Galaxies tracks it, yet it's not listed in your database.

Are you sure? Is the game not on RU at all, or is it one that just hasn't been score enabled yet? Do you want to tell us the game? We might be able to activate it so you can set the record. If you don't want to say publicly, you could private message me or another mod. Most games on RU can be played for scores and records and everything is on the level (unlike some of TG's site has been at times in the past no offense meant). We would be happy to check it out if you would like. Just let us know.
