To expand on my remark,

I've subbed on TG for 1-2 years plus once about 12 years ago. One VHS tape, quite a few DVDs and some digi subs. My first sub I was 16 and I'm 28 now. If this money thing would have been in place I wouldn't have 600+ records on TG I'd have 0.

Once I watched the video where one of the guys running the new TG said about the whole charging thing I stood up, walked over to my entertainment center, unplugged the SNES which was there for TG records, took it into my room with the NES/N64/GC/GB, opened the box they are in, and dumped the SNES in there. Won't need it anymore I guess.

And whoever the dude is in the middle during the video is a complete doofus.

Id say I did quite well,..........I ranked 6th out of all of them and didnt have to spend a couple thousands ofdollars and TSAgerope downs/rapes at the airports..........my mentor is impressed....( would've been better if I had a pultrray 15k on thatcrook Wiebie).Again the only people to actually priofit from this "Kong Off are Billy ( who must've had two broken arms as I average his score every time I play) Steve ( who stole the subject material from my mentor, and walter who does nothing but wear a referee shirt and pretend to be fair! Oh yea and brian Kuh who also got a contract from KOK who did nothing but lie about his DK record! Watchthe Dwayne Richards Videos.they are eye openoing as to how TG is actually run..."Twin Galaxies...a score keeping scam since 2007!"...........I put that on god!

I have felt Twin Galaxies was failing for a while. I was making a replacement site for them before they went offline.

Then they announced that they had new owners and were going to turn all of their problems around so I put my project on hold.

But their new plans will break it even more. Very few people can or will pay $10-40 to submit a score or fly to special arcade just to have their score submitted. Introducing money and location into the equation means you are not competing against the world's best players, just the players with the most disposable income and that are near a major US city.

So I will continue to work on my project.

It is not even beta yet. No need to give feedback or test at this early stage but here it is chamPOW - Main Menu

Some of the scores are currently inaccurate but they will be fixed and made public even if TG decides to trash all non-first place scores.

100% right, I ranked very well without having to spend thousands to do so.Especially in an economy thats in a depression.YES DEPRESSION! Why do you think game prices have fallen? Anyone still got $2500 to spend for a Dragon's Lair, Donkey Kong Tempest Space Ace Quantum Major Havoc or Robotron game? No I think not!..NOt Even Half that! If not much Less.
The New Twin Galaxy will soon price themselves out of business with these rules.I hate to think how much Rick Carter would spend to have his Nibbler score verified.....what a scam!

Dwayne Richards Videos are out there ( just go look) they are based on fact (not fiction like the perfect pac man or King Of Kong) These videos from Dwayne richrds expose what a shame competitive arcade gamming really is...places like this are the wave of the future.Twing Galaxies has signed its own death warrant with its new rules and restrictions ouline....RIP TG

Game prices have fallen? They're still 60 dollars over here. 40 for collections, HD rereleases and fighting games.

A classic arcade game unit such as Tempest is worth less than half (if not more) of what it was worth 8-10 years ago.............same goes for all classic arcade game machines............just watch and see what ones are sold for than what they are shilled for on shilling fourms like ebay. I know sone one who recently sold very nice preseverd examples of Dragon's Lair, dedicated Space Ace and and Donkey Kong arcade game units for $1100 for all 3 arcade units...........just a year and a half ago! Eveb then he had to wait fot the right buyerto come along.but dealers will say a dedicated Space Ace is $3000+ alone.(bologna) just like Twin Galaxies and thier score keeping!

Don't forget to add Tim Sczerbys 8/16/200o 879,200 Donkey Kong Score that edges by Billy Mitchelles 874,xxx 1982 score.............a full 3+ years before anyone knew who Steve Wiebie was. Just a little over sight the KoK producers forgot to look into and the staff at Twin Galaxies forgot when enough money was shoved infront of thier faces to look the other way.

I think the intentional lack of a forum is a good sign of the direction they're going in. Our way or the highway. I think the highway is gonna be bumper to bumper soon.

In TG's defense, I would guess that the sheer number of submissions they receive would be overwhelming, most likely a situation where they simply did/do not have the man to power to review them all.

I will reiterate what I posted earlier. The key to TG is the Guiness Book of World Records, which only recognizes world records posted on TG. It is almost like they have a monopoly on the video game records business because any record that is put up will not be offical recognized by the authority on world records unless through TG. That is their ace in the hole.

The key to killing TG is severing that link.

That's not the way I see it, I think that what they are doing is going to kill both their credibility, as well as the Guinness' credibility as well. It will essentially turn the Guinness scores into the world record version of the Spike VGA's.

I really think that is wishful thinking on your part. Guinness is the recognized authority on world records. There is a gold standard seal of approval when it comes to it.

Anyone who is interested in high-scores will write off whatever is listed in the GBWR's, because they know that there are most likely scores that are higher, because the gamer didn't want to pay the ridiculous fee, or TG didn't accept it because they didn't feel like it or whatever. To the general public, it will still be taken at face value, but anyone who is actually interested the GBWR's will be a joke.

This site gets a lot of scores and it's not in trouble man power wise (I hope. Love to help if I'm wrong). Here's an idea of what TG should do to verify scores

Step 0)Make subs online a major thing. Get most if not all of the scores to be subbed online through Mediafire or youtube type deals.

Step 1)Train a few refs, we'll call them Senior Refs. (There are 3 refs in my system, Jr-Regular-Sr)

Step 2)Anyone who wants can be a Junior Ref. A junior ref just watches any online sub and says if there's no cheating they see and if it's legit.

Step 3)Any video a Jr watches gets kicked up to a regular or Senior. A Reg/Sr can give a video an official stamp and a Sr can overrule a regular. A reg/Sr can also have any video ignore step 2.

Step 4)Any Jr refs that do very well in giving their opinion gets promoted to regular.

You now have a ton of refs for free. You now have a ton of submissions for free. You now have a ton of verified scores fast

This is such a bad business decision it's laughable. It's everything I feared they would do, but it's horrifically out of touch. I see TG crashing before long.

I didnt see where they said that. What I got from it was they will HAVE TO accept console and MAME scores due to their 350 score-a-year contract with guinness. They admit that they only want arcade scores but the contract forces them to accept the others.

I cant understand why they would only accept WR scores. How about top 5, or even top 10? I DO understand they dont want to verify 100th place scores, but 2nd, 3rd and 4th are significant achievements too. Even 10th place on DK will soon require a score over a million. Are they saying this isnt good enough to be on their scoreboard?

It sounded more like they'll only keep WR's on the list. (If I beat Chien for DK we'll both be on the list, if someone beats me it'll show all 3 of us)

I mean going forward. Under the new ruling, if someone gets a DK score 100pts behind Hanks current record, it wouldnt be accepted by them since its not a "world record". Seems a bit silly if you ask me.
