Dont be disheartened about the non-response. As far as Im aware no-one received a response about anything from the old owners

As for the new owners its a totally different story. As unclechicken has said they dislike MAME and Im sure if they could hand if off to RU, they would.
I wouldnt try contacting them yet but wait until everything is set in place (say the end of the year)

I'm presuming that includes M.A.M.E.

I'd like to hope he sees the significant effect of the emulation side of things - despite (as a purist) not liking it. Richie Knucklez has always struck me as quite a smart guy when it comes to this hobby. I wouldn't worry too much about the future of M.A.M.E. gaming @ T.G.

Sounds like they are pushing for referees at designated US locations as their primary verification method.

I agree. They were never friendly about console scores submitted via emulation, so from what they are saying, I don't see why that would dramatically.

They're looking into ways to compensate refs
for their time, whether we pay or not.

It's going to take a while for the website,

While there is rampant speculation about the future of Twin Galaxies, we want you to rest assured that there has been no downtime on this end.
It is our intention to announce a concrete plan for 2013 during “The Kong Off 2” coming up November 16th, 17th and 18th 2012 in Denver, Colorado USA.
We do have a few things that we would like to update you on right now.
The website, forum and score database should be up and running by the end of November. The site needs to be rebuilt to become more user-friendly, and we want to make sure that the information is properly stored to reduce or negate downtime.
There will be an entirely new score submission process put into place and that will be announced during The Kong Off 2 as well. We can tell you that we plan to accept records set on all platforms moving forward.
Beginning in 2013 there will be “7” “Twin Galaxies Verified Locations” that gamers will be able to play “LIVE” for verified Twin Galaxies Records. It is our hope that other arcades and gaming venues will reach out to us to become “verified locations” as well.
In addition to the verified locations the “Twin Galaxies Masters Tournament” will begin in February and conclude in November of 2013. The “TGMT” will be a series of 6 events that will be conducted in six different states that will crown a true North American Champion of Arcade and Classic Console gaming.
Again we ask you for your patients as we are rebuilding and putting everything back in place. We want to re-launch Twin Galaxies with attainable and executable goals.

That is quite a change from what they use to be. They will lose about 90% of their traffic if all they accept arcade scores. I will just go down to the local arcade, oh wait there are no more arcades. GL TG, RIP.

This will get rid of most international players but to be honest I can see where they are coming from with the new business model.
Having no forums is really disappointing. Sure they were mainly used for people to rant and rave, but thats because there was stuff to rant and rave about. If the website, scoreboard and company are going well then the forums would be filled with praise, suggestions and constructive criticism.
Also by the sounds of it we will have to send MAME scores in the mail, along with the appropriate paperwork.

I will still support TG but dont think Ill ever submit again.

At the start I dont believe they will get many submissions, and they will probably never get many mailed submissions in general. They will make their money from live arcade and console verificiations.

This is the "future"?,............. with current plans like these there won't be much of a future for Twin Galaxies. Its a shame that money and profit are valued than legit scores.
This is the legacy TG has set since 2007 when TG disgraced itself as a score keeping istitution and knowingly allowed a legit Donkey Kong score to be purposely neglected, a legit player to be disenfranchised so Steve and Billy and Walter all could profit from the subject material they claim as a documentay to the niave public.

I will not allow TG to exploit me so thier insider crownies can profit....NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

Why play politics with Twin Galaxies when one can just play right here?

Sounds like hubris, a little too much belief in the TG name.

However, the problem is when Guiness World Records, which recognizes world records only posted by TG. Therefore, if you want to have the offical world record, then you have to go through TG or it isn't going to be recognized.

I see two possible outcomes. 1. Status Quo or 2. You will see another authority rise and you will have what has happened to the sport of boxing. You will have several governing bodies and thus, several different world records for the same thing.

All the while Steve and Billy and Walter ride the wave off of an event in time someone else earned...........and recieved nothing! how do these sleeze bags sleep at night ? oh I forgot........ on top of a big pile of money. TG can go to hell. Dont worry, they will put themselves out of business very quickly with thier " new rules"...............Again Dwayne Richards unlocks many interesting behind the scenes facts reguarding KOK and the first perfect pac man.
