The word "say" can be taken very broadly. (at least in America) It is seen as an acceptable synonym for "convey" or any general term relating to communicating a word.

Since the differences of the poll choices that were listed were ones that were easily distinguished to be differences of a visual nature, I think we naturally assumed that you were asking us which one was more practical for others to see.

Very few among us (I assume) say "snes" out loud as a non acronym, and I think we assumed that the question was not related to such an unlikely idea. Most of us say some kind of variation of "Super Nintendo" or "SNES", (acronym) so we no doubt read both choices as acronyms.

Misunderstandings are nothing new. Somethings just don't process through the heads of others when they expect to use their eyes, yet the person who formed the question was not using the word "say" as a synonym for "convey", or some other such situation.

ON TOPIC:

I like to be very, very clear about which system I'm talking about since games are often ported to more than one system.
So for me:

NES = Nintendo, the original system. {that's how I say it}
SNES = Super Nintendo

By saying the names this way I avoid almost all confusion except my own.
But in keeping with the purpose and spirit of the thread:

NES = 'ehnee - ess'
SNES = 'ess - ness'
In my opinion.

I say it as a full word (Snes)
I think it depends how old you are and where you come from.
In this case Super Nintendo works. But for the NES (which I say as a word aswell, 'Nes') everyone I can think of around my age would think of the N64 if I said "nintendo"

Another example is Atari. I say Atari twenty six hundred (2600) and I've heard some Brits say Two thousand six hundred

For talking about Atari, I drop the word Atari all together and just say twenty six hundred, or fifty two hundred ect..., unless I'm talking about the 400 or the 800, or any less common ones, then I say Atari aswell.

I always say S.N.E.S instead of SNES. I think SNES sounds kinda stupid to say personally.

"Sness" sounds like some sort of weak underpowered sneese. I only say it that when I want to sound stupid. For the purpose of this poll I prefere to say "ess in ee ess", but usually I just say Super Nintendo.
