I understand what you guys mean by that, but here's what I'm getting at:

According to Penn and Teller's video on PETA, their final goal is to turn the planet Vegan.
Every animal shall run free to do as it pleases, where ever it pleases and no one is allowed to stop them in any way.
NO animal products or by products of any kind are to be used, ever.

So let's say they got their way on a global scale today.
No more animal usage by Humans at all, anywhere.
Where would that leave us?
That's a kiss of death to the 'Third World', and probably most of the 'Second World' as well, mainly through the economic problems it would automatically cause.

And if we were to give into the demands of PETA or other groups like them, what's next = no more trees or wood?
Then what?
No more water usage by Humans of any kind?

All I'm saying is that people in general are still largely dependent on animal products of one kind or another and so if we stopped using them altogether with no 'sustainable' replacement for those products it would leave a large portion of the world in a bad state.

PETA will never accomplish any goal like that. I think their over the top grandstanding might help some parts of the animal rights debate because of the attention and discussion they get. They're a lightning rod. People may dismiss them but they are still talking and thinking about the issues.

I looked it up on Wikipedia, and apparently my understanding of the word "second world" was outdated. "Second world countries" are no longer countries under Soviet communist influence, nor are "first world countries" used to represent countries under American capitalist influence. Apparently it's all about economic levels in general now, which still leaves the "third world" where I thought it was, but the meaning of the first two has changed.

In other words, I guess I'm just obsessed with the Cold War and the terms used in it.

I was merely implying that hunting humans and wearing their fur is a far better show of class. It's a dangerous game, perhaps the most dangerous game, but someone has to hunt it.
