Relgion is very important to a lot of people, for some it can lead to a much happier and fulfilling life. To negate that by essentially intructing students that it is false, is wrong. Personally I'm in favor of leaving the subject out of the system all together.

Nope not how it works. We don't toss out reality because we can't teach fairy tales alongside it. Science teaches theories that are backed up with evidence. Creationism is the christian belief from a book with no evidence. If we include that nonsense then we have to include all the others. Would you be ok if we wasted students time with the origin fairy tales from Islam, Hinudism, Buddism, Mormonism, Scientology, ect? The point is they have no business in school. People can learn about it in church. Religions only want it in school as part of their indoctrination.

I know it's not practical to cover each and every religion, however I also don't agree with telling students that their religion is false. That's why I think it's best if it was kept out of schools entirely.

No one is saying we should teach that it's false. The point is we should not treat unfounded stories like science. If religious people think that science threatens their faith then that's on them.

Point taken, bottom line is the school system sucks, I wish I never went to grade 1. The only benifit was meeting people and learning from them.

Well on topic then, Another hurricane is out there, Katia, and it looks like its headed this way. anyone think it will hit? or even be a hurricane if it does?

YS I think it's important to be aware and prepared for these sorts of things.
These storms are hitting certain areas {like Vermont} harder than they have in centuries according to yahoo news, so if you even think it might head your way take the proper steps for your safety and the safety of those around you.

I live in minnesota, but I always enjoy watching hurricanes, where they go and what they can do when and if they hit land
