Why? Crystalis is a well known name, wasn't it even number 1 in Nintendo Power when it was released? I bet it'll do well.

I beleive SMB 3 had a monopoly on the number 1 spot during the rise and subsequent fall of Crystalis.

I just have a vague memory of Crystalis being hyped up in NP, thought it was a best of list but who knows this many years later.

I just grabbed an old issue for reference, it had SMB 3 at #1 for it's 23rd consecutive month, Crystalis was at 4th after 11 months on the chart. So it's very doubtful that after 11 months Crystalis would have a spike in votes catapulting it into first.

But regardless, 4th spot after 11 months is quite a bit of recognition.

I think the sales figures went down with each installment until 4 when they decided not to bother bringing any more over.

It stood out to me because it's the one you don't usually hear about. To me it's all about 1,3,4. Everyone appreciates 1 for being the first of the series, it's an icon. 3 vs 4 is a debate I always hear and it always seems to end up split, both are just great. But 2 is left out. I just looked it up and now I definitely remember playing it and it got good marks but I guess it didn't make an impact with me. Maybe it's just me, seems like the DW that everyone forgot about.

If not, then why don't we just call the game "The Ninja Gaiden Series", and if so, then I would think that the original deserves my vote more than the second.

@dn: I'm not going to change my system half way through. I picked the game that best defines the series and like it or not NG2 is not only better than the others, it's also more highly regarded.

I had no idea that there was a generally more positive consensus for NG2, and I have no problem if other people like it.

I am not asking you to change your system. These are your topics and now that I am up to speed I have no real complaints, other than the fact that it did seem misleading initially.
