It seems to me that this is about when the car starts to be uncontrollable, like riding a rocket.

Whatever influenced him to do it, two things are for certain:

1. He's going to be paying that fine off for a long, long time. {Visa?}
2. 240 kph/ 149 Mph is incredibly fast, no matter how your speedometer states it.

It kind of makes me wonder about other places where you surrender your personal things, like the baggage check at the airport:

Yeah, 240 Km/Hr is too damn fast, though I do understand the valet's temptation. Given a fast car, wouldn't you want to go fast? Especially if it isn't your car, thus not your problem.

That's what racing games are for, in my opinion.
I've been in/ on vehicles going extremely fast; all I could think about is how we could end up as a pile of goo on the road if a Moose decides to step up onto the highway or something.

And if that really did happen, what would people think of you?
'He was so cool, how he died, he was going so fast ..' , or
'Showoff got what he deserved'.

I've heard people say the latter more often, personally.
