The first Street Fighter

So i was playing this game and i was wondering if anybody actually like this game? I'm a fan of it, i'd adore it if the controls were more responsive, probably more than i adore street fighter 4. I'm basically just wondering if i'm not alone out there.

Re: The first Street Fighter

I liked it well enough back in the day. But as you said the controls were not as good as they became starting with Street Fighter II.

Pulling off special moves are really tricky but if you get good at it you can be quite successful in that game.

I liked it better of course after I found a version with the 6 button configuration rather than those huge two bulky buttons. Those were fun in two player mode, but not against the computer.

Retro Uprising - Arcade - Street Fighter (World)

Not the best game ever by far but very innovating.
Released in 1987
Capcom's first fighter
First game with
6 buttons
pressure pads - some versions of the game had 2 pressure pads instead of 6 buttons. How hard and fast you pressed them decided if it was a fast, medium or hard attack.
Special moves

Most games register the button when you press it. This one registers when you release. Making the controls seem buggy.

YAY!!!!

6 buttons
Cool.

Thats very fascinating! That would be really fun! IMO it would get in the way of serious play, though.
Special moves
Yep, those specials moves seem to happen outta nowhere in this game.

In sf4 and ssf4 doesn't it do that also but only with special move inputs?
I learned alot to today!

Re: The first Street Fighter

Yeah the big buttons were a real pain, but it was funny to watch people wail on them to try and hit the opponent harder.

So that's what made the controls suck.
That's why they were so unresponsive.
