Re: Team Marathon II
I bet you get bonus for not using bombs.
I think the score has to do with the items you collect.

Re: Team Marathon II
Okay, well Ive tried every combination of beating him, no bombs, no charge, just bombs, fast, slow... all I ever get is 50,000, and the odd occation nothing, rounding out the level with 200-250,000.

Re: Team Marathon II
try the default plane, that always gets me high scores like that.
Meaning top row, second plane.

Re: Team Marathon II
Okay, I tried 3 times with him, first time I ended up with 290,000, suggesting he gave me 100,000 instead of the usual 50,000, the next two time he gave me 50,000. This is weird.

Re: Team Marathon II
The boss seems to auto-die without even having to attack him. Maybe its has to do with damage dealt or whether you kill him before he auto-dies.

Re: Team Marathon II
Okay, your on to something Ten, I just let him auto-die without firing a single shot at him, and the roulette bonuses were worth way more than normal, my score shot up from 180k or so to well over 450k.

Re: Team Marathon II
i got a huge bonus earlier, 450k. didn't fire a lot, spent most of the time dodge, fired one bomb to clear the screen. i think it might have something to do with the number of the slot icons you collect. it might be a multiplier or something
---------- Post added at 05:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:40 AM ----------
it has to do with the point drops (slot icons) bells are worth 200, cherries 1000, bar 2000, 7's are 3000. the bonus you get when you fight the boss as everything to do with what icons you hit. if you hit a bunch of 7's after defeating a boss, then you get a bigger bonus, the highest point total i got after level one boss was 600k +

Re: Team Marathon II
Yeah but there is some stipulation to that, because for 600k you would need 200 7's.

Re: Team Marathon II
So besides the scoring system is there any word on if this is an unreasonable challenge or not? It seems like you guys are all talking about the first couple levels.

Yeah, racking up points early on will be integral to beating this game.

If I can get a boss to drop a free man every level than I can beat this game, I beat it in 5 credits so far.

So you are saying that bosses have been dropping physical 1-ups beyond what is given for points? If so, that's interesting. I have never seen that.

No, he's saying he hopes to gain enough points to get one free life per level.
