Game Secrets/tips
This thread is for listing the secrets/tips you know about the games you love.......so go ahead, list away!!!!
---------- Post added at 06:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 AM ----------
My first secret/tip is for Mega Man X..........in the Armored Armadillo level, at the very start, you will go down a hill, with the option of using the cart thingy......ignore it and shoot all the bats along the way.......atthe bottom of the hill, there is an emu/ostrich(?) with a saw blade that he shoots at you....kill him.......but right after him, there is an odd, LARGE bat, different from all the other bats.......shoot him over and over again for extra lives..........I dont consider this cheating since you can only have a maximum of 9 lives(like a cat, hahaha)

Re: Game Secrets/tips
I don't know if this is a tip or not but it works for me in Pokémon red/blue. As soon as your character throws their poke ball to catch a Pokémon hold down B and up and do not let go until you captured whatever Pokémon you were trying to get. It works for me

Re: Game Secrets/tips
There is a hiding place in the original arcade version of Pac-Man, if you go under the top right part of the T shaped maze wall below the ghost house and stay there, the ghosts will never find you! Perfect tip for toilet breaks

They included a 'critical' capture in B and W which if I remember right makes it a 100% chance of getting. It's like a critical hit so there's no buttons to hit.

Re: Game Secrets/tips
Just a reminder, some of these tips though fun should not be used when posting a score as it would be considered cheating. (Like the 30 man trick.)
Make sure to check the FAQ for details located at Retro Uprising - FAQ
Feel free to ask a Mod if you have any questions or are unsure after reading it.
Have fun everyone.

I was just being sarcastic about my last "tip"
In Zelda 1, if you go into Level 1 than instantly leave and go back in, the first locked door will be open, allowing you to save a key.

Re: Game Secrets/tips
If you have the Ice Beam in Metroid, head to the door that leads to Tourian (mother brain and Metroids) There's a pit of lava that seems impassable. but if you lure an enemy to follow you through the door (like the bugs or the hopper) and freeze them, you can completely bypass both Karid and Ridley. Just make sure you have a lot of missiles and energy, or you wont get very far.

Metal Gear for Nintendo. One day Elrod and I were messing around with what password codes we could come up with that fit. We discovered a certain adult themed code had very surprising results when entered....
Caution for the kids, profanity and adult content are in the game code below.
If you try it on the game the * must be a "U"

Back to the first post about mega man x, nevsrmind the fRming, let yourself die 5 times ontgat minecartwhen it goes over the cliff. On the 5th time, a new dr light pod will be available. The pod gives you the hadokin powerup which is a 1 or 2 hit kill for bosses.

I'm wondering if this was included in every version of the game, because I could never get it to work.

Actually, you need to have all 4 energy tanks filled up and all of the bosses defeated and get to the end of the level with full life. Then climb the wall and it should be there.

You also have to get the energy on top 5 times by resetting for it to appear.

It is considered farming, but, like i said, you can only have a maximum of 9 lives, which, if youre a beginner, is an awesome TIP........so I dont consider this farming.......I think farming is when you do something over and over again to give yourself an unfair advantage......which this TIP doesnt.....so chyeah

Re: Game Secrets/tips
I personally only use this tip when I go through the level the first time..........I dont go back to the level to do this over and over again..........that would be cheating

Re: Game Secrets/tips
Two tips for two obscure games that I've played way too much of.
Clock Tower (SNES)
A Monster's Fear of Stairs-If you ever have a main hall run in with Little Bobby Scissors in Clock Tower, try using some stairs. Because he's not programmed to walk from one floor to another, he'll just walk back and forth at the base of the flight. Some people like to say that he has a fear of them. Be warned though, Bobby has a knack for teleporting when you're not in the same room as him.
S.O.S (SNES)
A Little Irresponsibility Can Go a Long Way-The passengers in S.O.S are pretty hopeless, and often resort to acting like lemmings to survive. To keep them safe from a 100 foot drop at the end of your dangerous adventure, leave them all at the bottom of the boiler room. Instead of trying to direct them all the way to salvation, just make a break for it and get to the top of the room as fast as you possibly can. If you are fast enough to make it all the way to the top of the room while flaming debris is flying everywhere, be sure to get hit by some. When you awake, all of your fellow survivors will be standing right by your side, so you can be free to talk to them again and then direct them to the nearby exit. Just make sure that you have five minutes before you do this though, because if you take a whack to the face with limited time left, the ship will sink before you wake up to open the hatch.
