It all evens out. Hossa's goal cancels out the goal the Oilers got when Keith blew a tire and fell down.

Re: NHL Thread
My brothers playing Petry for one bad play. All he saw out of Petry was that defensive lapse in OT. He was great all game otherwise.
You guys outplayed us other than maybe 4, 5 minute spurts there. Powerplay as well of course. Khabibulin is a big reason why we were in this and dare I say should have won if Yakupov didn't aim so close to the post on that shot. Wasn't going to say anything about Khabby due to superstitions earlier but he has been the better goalie as of late(didn't want to jinx him).
Go figure though, finally a game with enough Chip & Chase from the Oilers, and it comes against a team where that doesn't work.
It was a good game, I'm just getting stressed because trades are being demanded for crazy things like Hall or Eberle over this. For size of all things, Blackhawks a perfect example, they don't have much size in their top 6, they don't need it. Neither do we. We have Fistric, Jones, Smid, Potter, Eager on Defense and bottom 6.

Thank you Hossa for my Fantasy Points. He's been amazing for me this year and I drafted him in like the 5th/6th round lol.

Hossa assisted I'm assuming? 2 Goals were from Patrick Kane as I recall, and one from Stahlberg.

Hossa scored the game winner.
The Hawks don't have much size and don't hit much, but you'd be surprised how much it gets complained about here and how some want trades to get bigger because they're convinced we'll get pushed around in the playoffs.

Did he? My bad, the announcers were screaming Patrick Kane by my memory. Plus the stream quality is not that great. Pretty decent today though. Like watching a game in the early 2000's before the cameras got better.

Glad to hear it. I just recently started visiting the Oilers forums, and it's all I hear. Maybe it was a thing last year too. I just don't find logic in trading any of our top 6. They're all amazing.
I don't think people understand teams like the Oilers & the Blackhawks. Frankly 2 of the only teams I can think of that still favour the Run and Gun offensive style more than anything. Maybe that's it? I can't put my finger on it, but I don't think the Oilers need a trade, other than a 3rd line center, and Potter and Whitney probably need to go on the third/depth defense.

Re: NHL Thread
Very nice.
Sorry I got to spoil the party, but rant time. Hate Dallas Stars. did we lose again? No, actually. We got up 3-0, then Dallas started head hunting. 5-1 win. robbed Dubnyk of a shutout he deserved.
I cannot believe the things I saw from the stars. Literally head hunting. Potter got injured after his head got sandwiched into the board buy a stars elbow. Hemsky got slashed to the head, Petry got cross checked in the head into the boards. Jones got injured off a cross check from behind mid ice when he was nowhere near the puck. High cross check, severe whiplash I'm guessing. I can go on... This was beyond ridiculous.
I'm happy with the win, but I hate this team. Given us nothing but trouble. Even the fluke times we do beat them in history, this happens. Sore losers.
Redeeming fact is that we weren't pushovers at least. Gagner dropped the gloves. Fistric was punishing guys left and right for hunting. One instance was a guy attacking nugent hopkins out of nowhere. Fistric came in and pushed the guy across the ice.
Thoughts on this style of play? You can argue that this is hockey, but it's been a while since I've seen such blatant attempts to injure. On dozens of occasions tonight at least.

Best of luck to you guys. I'm banking on detroit not making the playoffs this year so there is that one extra spot.

Oh jeez. Looking at the injury report. Mostly bad news. Khabibulin out indefinitely, which I knew, but didn't mention... He's been really good, so that one stings. Hartikainen, Fistric and Potter are all suddenly day-to-day (potter was aware of). Rumour has it Hall needs to take a game off over back spasms or something as well. Don't see him on the report though.
In trade Rumours, Hemsky's name is popping up left and right again :-/
Bad news for you, perhaps. Detroit was one of the most interested in Hemsky last year when his name was popping up as well. Detroit & Nashville. Let's hope he stays put.
Edit: Forgot good injury news. Horcoff is finally listed as Week to week, and is said to return during the 9 game road trip. Very good news.

Re: NHL Thread
I'm just fed up with my team this year.
What I saw last 2 years (more so last year)? Lots of of offense, usually out shooting the other team at least, scoring 3 or 4 goals a game. All good and fine, the drawback was the 4-6 goals being scored on us. Defense needed to mature and our goalies needed to step up.
This year looked like it would be all systems go to at least slip into 8th. That offense was looking good coupled with solid Defense and Goaltending.
What is the result? Getting heavily out shot every game, defense and goaltending saving us if anything.
Imagine if the offense just delivered the amount of shots they should, they'd get the amount of goals that they should. We'd be winning every game 4-2 or 4-3. Not happening though. Immensely frustrating at this point.
Not even in the same ballpark as what I expected this year. Not sure anyone expected a lack of offense coupled with good defense and goaltending.
Hall, Nugent Hopkins, Eberle, Yakupov, Schultz, Gagner, Hemsky, Petry, Paajarvi. How are we here with all of these guys? I just don't understand.

Re: NHL Thread
@Cam- That was awful to watch. I saw it live.
Hawks could win every game the entire year and then get swept in the first round of the playoffs. Sports is real weird like that sometimes.

Re: NHL Thread
Well now injuries are stacking up. Shaw got whacked in the head and didn't play in the third. Sharp went down with a bad injury and Coach Q said he'll be out "for a while".
Hossa and Frolik didn't play tonight either, but everyone is pretty sure they just have the flu.
