For the record, I don't like shooters either.

I find them really boring. I'm just the best one equipped on my team to play them. Anyone who knows me on here can tell you I'm a huge fan of the adventure genre.

What kind of Adventures do you like? Zelda?

The former.
And for the record I picked most of the games and tried to keep a wide variety that would offer something for everybody. While the word Shooter and Sport came up a lot the sports games were not your standard sport games - American Gladiators, Cyberball, Pinball, Jeopardy, Bowling, Pool and RC Pro Am - and there were only two traditional shooters as in the R-Type variety. The other shooters were Berzerk, Gain Ground, Space Invaders and Freedom Force. When I gave examples of games I tried to choose games that represented the next game more than the generic genre did.
I think Freedom Force (too easy) and Championship Lode Runner (too hard) and Jeopardy! Sports Edition (too boring and dated) were the worst games.
My favorites were Dune (gets boring after a while though), Bank Panic, Gain Ground, and Dragon Crystal.

But only one beatemup? I know beatemups are scarce, but why not more of it?

RPG/Adventure would be my top genre. I also like platform/adventure, strategy/adventure, combat/flight, sports/driving and the occasional platform/standard.
Mostly I like a lot of the stuff most people don't like or haven't played.

Ever try Megaman Zero or Megaman ZX? Those are good platform adventure.

Re: Team Contest III - Elimination I - Status
I realized during this contest - Tanc pointed it out - that the light gun games cut the FPS in half making them boringly easy.

Re: Team Contest III - Elimination I - Status
Wonderful competition. Kong, you created another great competition for the team event, even better, you didn't start a fire during this one. ;D
The games were a great representation of the variety of games here on the site (no matter what others say, you can't please everyone ) Just so everyone knows, this was all Kong's hard work.

Depends on your perspective. Games like Top Gun and Airwolf could be considered shooter/1st-person.

Re: Team Contest III - Elimination I - Status
That didn't make sense. By FPS I meant Frames per second meaning that NEScafe can not play light phaser games full speed which makes them too easy and boring.

Re: Team Contest III - Elimination I - Status
Sorry, FPS = First-Person Shooter as well.
The same thing could be done with shooter/scrollers. Even if you disabled the feature people can force lag themselves which causes a slo-mo affect as well. I couldn't tell you the number of times I couldn't submit a score because my old comp would lag.

Re: Team Contest III - Elimination I - Status
This was a great contest. Nicely done Kong!
I think if we were to do this again, we should limit each team to one first place callback, so teams with only one player left aren't given such a huge advantage.

Re: Team Contest III - Elimination I - Status
Since the Grumpy Old Men can't resist the urge to defecate on the rest of us, they are now all required to wear diapers. Out of all the three trophies, I like the Marathon one the best. For anyone who can't recognize them, it's the A-Team, and it was a nice play on the Mega Men's original designation, Team A. Congratulations to the Grumpy Old Men, you guys deserved it.

Other than that I liked this contest. I disagree with Tails, I liked most of the games(or it seemed like more than previous contests).
|
So, you liked the sports games? They are boring, Shooters are alright just too many and not my thing.
|
Tails, I'll use a quote from the Dude himself in regards to the first part of your statement...
" Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."
