The beautiful part of TF2 is how each class has a weakness to the others, or so I think. (SJB can correct me if I'm wrong.) As for Soldier he's weak vs Scouts who can run circles around his slow ass and avoid/surf on explosions. He's also weak vs Snipers since he's so slow on foot and he is a nice floaty target in the air. A good Pyro can ruin his day with that air blast too. Engineer can mess him(and everyone except spies) up with a well placed sentry gun.
I think I gave you the wrong impression with my first video. Most class videos like that will show highlights of a good player doing well. When you play the game Soldiers be dying left and right.
Yeah lower ping is better. Some games have options to filter servers by the average ping and lots of games you'll get kicked by the players if your ping is over 150-200 or so. Speaking of ping and TF2 I recall seeing lots of people on there with ping around 1k. I dunno if the number is just glitched or they live on the moon or something but they slow the whole server down.
