I think Mark has shown much more versatility over the years. His games are essentially different each time. While I like Sonic, I have to admit there is a lot more repetition in his games with levels looking basically the same.

It was nice when Mario & Sonic put aside their differences and went to the Olympics that time. It was nice to have peace...if only for a day...

That game was pretty fun. I liked the archery, I played Robotnik I think, funny looking weirdo.

It is pretty fun. It's so bizarre though to see Sonic and Mario as friends now a days when they were bitter enemies back in the 90's. Ahh how times change. Maybe there is even hope that we will one day see a game like, "Master Chief & Kratos God of War's Cake Factory" or something.

I voted sonic more because of the characters in the sonic universe.

While Mario is cool Sonic Has Tails AND shadow so they have a point. Knuckles is alright and thier base goals end up the same..

Mario himself is neat but Luigi was annoying as a hero. Peach HAS power, if she would remember to use it. Koopa Kid and bowser are better villians than Robotnik who just did the smae thing over and over... Besides BOwser fought Mario HIMSelf and personally wihtout use of weapons. While Robotnik fights sonic all the time but tends to fail all the time.
(see all sega genesis sonic games for evidence)

Sonic good guys win (counting shadow as a good guy lol)
Mario has better villians though..

sonic has Spin dash and is incredibly fast
Mario can swim, and has a much easier time becoming super.

sonic is alot eaier to keep alive, all you need is one ring.
Mario you have to work alot harder to stay big, other wise your toast, coins or not.

similarities: both did the BEST in 2d platform gaming, and Party games.
100 rings/coins for extra lives. Kill so many enemies in a row for Extra lives..
While invincible both characters have special music and glow to a point.

I personally would love to see a 2d coop game for the Mario and sonic universe.. The olympics and Smash bros are cooll.. but lets give players the chance to Really get them all to shine.

that and I want a party game with all the sonic and mario characters.. with boards for both worlds..

(then toss in the smash bros cast.. WANNA play link in a mario party..XP lol)
Actually, both have been in RPG games that are siad to be really good.. skip 2d, make it an RPG.
First choice.. Sonic story? or Mario story? (Like hero and Dark in adventure 2.)
