top 5 movie monsters
Ok, so I like monster movies, here's my top 5.
5. The Gremlins (Gremlins/ Gremlins II)
Though the sequel was more of a comedy, and these movies were PG, the first films were actually quite terrifying, let's not forget that this was before PG-13. And for a film that made all kids of the time wet the bed, these monsters deserve mention.
4. The Fly (The Fly)
The Fly was a science fiction horror movie (for those of you that don't know) where man was mixed with Fly. The Fly was terrifying, simply put. This movie is great, and so's the monster.
3. King Kong (King Kong)
King Kong, America's greatest monster. He needs no explanation. He was taken to America, and went crazy. The first film was the best (by far) before the diarrhea-esque 70's remake. In 2005, a satisfying remake was made, though not great, it wasn't bad either. For a monster that made people see the human side in something crushing their brains out, he belongs on this list.
2. Godzilla (Godzilla)
Godzilla! King of monsters! Straight out of Tokyo, a monster that showed the terror of nuclear warfare. He's fought enough monsters to occupy the top 20 (including king kong) and has saved the world and left it in fear.
So, what beats King Kong and Godzilla...
Well, Number 1...
1.The Stay Puft Marshmallow man (Ghostbusters)
Okay, I couldn't resist. The Stay Puft Marshmallow man is from one of my favorite movies, and he walked around the city like any other monster, destroying stuff and all that. So, Stay Puft definitely gets #1.

Re: top 5 movie monsters
OK I got a top 5 for you
starting with number 5
5. King Ghidorah
Three heads are always better then one.
4. The Invisible Man
I think that one is explanatory on its own.
3. Underground Worm Things from “Tremors.”
Worms killing people from under the ground and rarely showing themselves.
2. Jaws
How many people watched that movie and then wanted to go swim in the ocean.
1. Freddy from nightmare on elm street.
Quick wit and deadly. Well he rates number one on my list, and not just because he killed johnny depp in the first nightmare on elm street. Also a great sense of humor in a guy who gets people in their dreams says something.
Thats my list like them or hate them they were all great monsters in movies.

Re: top 5 movie monsters
I agree with Jaws and invisible man. Never seen Ghidorah or Tremors. I consider Freddy more of a serial killer than a monster.

Re: top 5 movie monsters
ah come on where's Alien? it may not be big, but if you can blast it out the airlock with a grappling hook and it crawls back up it to get you screams hardcore
So here's my list
5.Stay Puff....
He's funny and awesome, you can't deny it
4.Nosferatu
One of the original vampire movies, and I think he's creepier than Dracula
3.Frankenstein's Monster
And I mean the real one, not the dumb one in the various movies, I know they made one version on the 90's that was a lot closer to the book, but the acting was atrocious
2.Alien
I've already explained, Alien was the best, and Aliens(Alien 2) was awesome, the rest of the series isn't worth mentioning
1.Agrajag
He's been killed more times than Jason, and still keeps just appearing to be killed.....again, but when he's re-incarnated in his Cathedral of Hate, the description of him is awesome, and ironic to no end

I agree with Timber about Alien. It was great.
But I have to correct you about Nosferatu. He is Dracula, they just couldn't get the rights to Bram Stokers book so they changed names and locations. But I will agree, it was an awesome movie.

King Kong definately belongs on the list. Never seen Ape-Man or Ape or Son of Kong. Mighty Joe Young is just a rip off of Kong to me.

Actually Freddy was a monster because of the fact that he was dead. When he was alive in the movies it would have been serial killer then, but when he started going and killing people in dreams is when he turned into a monster. Thats the way I look at it.

didn't know that, it seemed to have enough differences to me to actually be a separate idea, but I've been wrong about remake's before

Well that was the point. They didn't want to get in trouble for ripping off the book.
Btw did you find it funny when Nosferatu was carrying his coffin through the town? I loled irl, 4 realz.

sorry it took me so long to get back on this one, I've been busy, I don't remember that part, but it's been awhile since I've seen the movie, and I misread the title, my nuber one isn't from a movie, it's from a book....

Re: top 5 movie monsters
A couple throwbacks from the 50's...
The Pod People from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"
The Ymir from "20 Million Miles to Earth"
Or a really obscure one... Ro-Man from "Robot Monster."
