Vertical space shoot-em-up coin-op

There's a coin-op game I remember playing as a kid - all I can remember about it is that it's a vertical space shoot-em-up and that at certain points, enemies would spawn in formations shaped like letters of the alphabet (one formation at a time).

Gaplus/Galaga 3? On the challenging stage, each time you shoot one of the enemies, it spells one piece of a letter, eventually spelling out words (BONUS, GAPLUS, DOUBLE, TRIPLE, etc)

No, the enemies themselves would, at certain points, appear in formations in the shape of single letters.
