This is one of the easiest polls yet. Not because the other games are bad, but because Crystalis is a top-3 game on the NES. It's like the Legend of Zelda, but better. How could you not vote for that?

The thing is that Bubble Bobble is multi-plat, does that take anything away from from it's position on the NES rankings?

It just kinda makes it less of a NES game. When you suggest that you are looking for the best NES game, you are looking for games that made the NES great. If the game is available everywhere, then it's not a good NES game, it's just a good game.

Donno, just seems odd to be focusing on a particular systems games and be including games that plenty of other systems had in their libraries as well. To me, in most cases they aren't really NES games, they were just games that were ported to the NES. How stupid would it be if every generations systems top ten games lists were the same?

There are countless arcade ports in the NES library(like Contra and Bubble Bobble). I don't see people saying that they aren't "real" NES games.

My approach was based on the individual merits of each game, rather than judging them based on their importance to the NES itself.

If you asked random NES owners to list 10 iconic NES games, Contra would be on nearly every list and Bubble Bobble would not.

Both are arcade pots but only Contra is an "NES" game IMO.

I think Contra and Bubble Bobble are rare exceptions.

Most arcade ports are, in my mind, "Arcade" games. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong, original Mario Bros all appear on multiple systems but are "arcade" games.

Punch-Out is an Arcade game. Mike Tyson's Punch Out is an NES game.

Bubble Bobble is universal. Tetris is on border of universal and NES.

Those are the systems I most associate with those games.

So I wouldn't put Bubble Bobble in this race.
