Games do not load

Hello!

I used to play here a few years back but already back then I could only play when using IE (despite having FF).

Well now IE has been cancelled. I have tried playing with FF and Edge (which I normally don't use) both but neither browser will work; games won't load up at all. I don't want to download Chrome needlessly; in case that also doesn't work.

What can be wrong here (sorry if question is unspecific but I really have no idea where to begin)? I am running Windows 10 and the latest update Firefox atm. Have I missed downloading something I should have perhaps (again it's been a LONG time since playing here)?

Edit: I see the message about upgrading to fix all browsers now (sadly I'm not in a financial situation to contribute atm) so I guess it may work soon but... Is there a way to play now? If it works for someone on Windows 10 what browser are you using please? I'm willing to download a different browser if required; though would prefer not to.

Re: Games do not load

Hi there. Support for IE has ended, but you should still be able to use it - I am currently doing so.

If you're experiencing problems, this article may help... good luck!

Re: Games do not load

This website was made in 2008 and has not received significant updates since then. It's tons of fun if you use an old browser but will not work in modern browsers.

Will only work if you are on Windows.

The best options, listed in reccomended order (best option at top):
  1. Internet Explorer - MS Internet Explorere is different than MS Edge. To open IE on Windows 8 & Windows 10, Click Start and then type iexplore then press enter.
  2. Microsoft Edge - In Edge click "More options (...)" from the top left-hand corner of the browser, hover over "More Tools" then choose "Open with Internet Explorer".
  3. IE Tab for Chrome Based browsers - This will work on nearly any Windows based browser except FireFox. After installing, open RetroUprising in IE Tab.
  4. IE Tab for Firefox - Install this extension and then open RetroUprising in IE Tab.
  5. Firefox version 40 Portable - this is a old stand alone version of FF. You can run it on a computer that has a newer version of FF already installed. Because it is portable you can install it to a USB thumb drive, a cloud drive or your local hard drive. You might need to disable auto update from the settings becasue if it updates it will stop working.

By default IE is still pre-installed with Windows in most situations. However if option 1 above doesn't work then options 1-4 will fail too. Either use option 5 or follow these instructions:

Select Start > Search , and enter Windows features. Select Turn Windows features on or off from the results and make sure the box next to Internet Explorer 11 is selected. Select OK, and restart your device.

There are more options listed at http://www.retrouprising.com/showthread.php?t=16962 but the above are your best bets.

Found IE on my new computer thanks to you and it works. Thanks for the help now I can finally play again. Really missed this site. See most of my scores have been overtaken and I have a bunch of 2nd places now... Ready to grind again.

Shame to hear the site has not been updated. Maybe it's a financial thing (sadly I have not been in a position to donate at either point of being active)?

Might as well update here. Now it says "Error: Game did not load." (played it just fine yesterday)? Any possible reason for that?

Re: Games do not load

Glad it was working for you.

To fix this:
Press Windows Key + R
That opens a run prompt.
Paste
%temp%\low\arcadeox
Press enter.
That opens the arcadeox temp folder.

If you delete all the zip files in that folder and inside the storage folder, then it should fix any problem. You can delete anything in that folder but your save states and custome settings are in there as well.

Also rebooting would probably fix it.
