Using the mouse in Mame lightgun games

I'm a noob and relatively stupid, but I can't figure out how to make the mouse work as the lightgun in games like Operation thunderbolt. I can only seem to control the crosshairs with keyboard and keys, not the mouse and buttons. Any help would be appriciated.

To toggle mouse support on games, after the game starts, press Left Shift and F5 at the same time. This will bring up a prompt for toggling mouse support. Press enter to switch. This will reset the game.

Then the lightfun target will appear and be controlled by your mouse. You will then have to press Tab and go to Analog Controls and calibrate the sensitivity and other options to your liking.

Also, after doing what Seahawk said, you will probably want to press Alt + Enter to go Full Screen. Otherwise your mouse might go out of the game screen area.

*head explodes at learning that arcadeox will run games full screen and I've been playing at this time without it X_X;;*

To be clear, make sure you use the Left Alt key when doing that.

while playing aliens, i cannot get the curser to disappear. how can i do that?

I found that hitting escape once to bring up a menu and hitting it again to go back to the game also removes the cursor without having to go fullscreen

And when I Toggle Mouse Support on Mechanized Attack, it's controlling the red crosshair instead of the blue crosshair - "Do you have any idea of how that Mouse Control got switched just like this?", 'want to find a way to do this'- then how do I make the mouse support to control only the blue crosshair?

Now I see that the mouse support of touch pad controls the blue cross hair(for player 1) & mouse controls the red cross hair(for player 2), and what about the computer that don't have the touch pad then, see if that can just switch over to the mouse control(controlling just player 1(target)).

When I play these R.U. (Arcade) games at the library, & after I tried setting that game to full screen, that game still went off, then I still have to click back in to continue playing that game. So I don't know if it's the library, or you want to find some other new game features from R.U. (?)
