Blocked? How to surf at work/school.
Ever get frustrated at work or school because this site is blocked? Just in case it happens at my job, I found a proxy that allows you to get through to the site. It works for me but I am not sure if it will work for all. It is at least worth it to write down the link or save it somewhere, especially if you are working from school or work. Hopefully this will help at least one other person out (Kraemer possibly?).
Start Using CGIProxy
I don't think it will let you play games (some java applets won't work) and it does run a little bit slower, but it will at least let you check the forums and post replies. Anyone else can feel free to post other proxies that will allow you to the site. Also, I don't know if the site will become blocked for me....so the first person to post a proxy that will allow me to use Java and play all games (including flash) will get rep and a donation (amount to be determined). I'm not trying to act like a computer guru so I'm not sure if that kind of proxy is even possible. Thanks and happy gaming all.

This also doesn't work for me, you must have a weak filter at your school fedor...but as an example:
going to the whois site that fedor listed, and typing in imdb.com brings you here:
http://whois.domaintools.com/imdb.com
looking a little ways down under "Server Data" there is an entry for "IP Address" which in this case is: . 72.21.211.32:
The Internet Movie Database (IMDb)
This IP address can be used interchangibly with the domain name. Evidently, the filter fedor's school is using, is only blocking domain names, and not the corresponding IP's.
Edit: well I had to come in and edit this to add the IP address. Evidently Kong added a module that auto looks up IP addresses for you and replaces them. Clever.

The way ipfeint connects to the site is indistinguishable from the way a hacker or a spam robot would connect to the site therefor we block them. Sorry. But http://www.dontfilter.us does the same and will not be blocked by us though your school/work might block them.

Re: Blocked? How to surf at work/school.
Well I found the ultimate solution (for me anyway). I joined a google group.
http://groups.google.com/group/proxy-rank?msg=subscribe
It gives a HUGE list of proxies and there are new ones added daily. My work is extremely uptight, so they get blocked daily also. I typically get 1-2 proxies every day that work. Good luck to everyone that is blocked.[br] Posted on: March 28, 2008, 11:42:25 PM_________________________________________________S ince someone PM'd me and asked for the proxy group I am with, I am bumping this thread. If you ever need a proxy, just go here and you should be able to find more than enough to satisfy your needs.

Re: Blocked? How to surf at work/school.
Oh. I get it now. Like when (a long time ago) Fedor said he used whatismyip.com. It was something similar, anyway. He got the websites IP address and put it in as opposed to actually typing www.retrouprising.com.

Re: Blocked? How to surf at work/school.
I found an add on that should help everyone if they use it.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo addon/2464
FoxyProxy is an advanced proxy management tool that completely replaces Firefox's limited proxying capabilities. It offers more features than SwitchProxy, ProxyButton, QuickProxy, xyzproxy, ProxyTex, TorButton, etc.

Re: Blocked? How to surf at work/school.
You might not be able to access this site at your work...
but http://proxy.org/ give a fairly comprehensive list of proxies that I use quite often.
Some of them are better than others, and some of them give more pop ups than others (not to say they all have pop ups), but you should probably be able to find the right proxy site there.

Re: Blocked? How to surf at work/school.
Try this AnchorFree
I have not tried it myself and do not know if it will work or not but it might get you past blocked sites. Use at your own risk. Let us know what happens if you try it.

Re: Blocked? How to surf at work/school.
Ah, but in my school district, many proxy servers are blocked, and they watch intently, if they find that you have used a proxy, they give you one warning, after that, you are expelled.
