If I have to I will eventually make some youtube videos asking for people to sponsor me. I have the skill, not necessarily the money.

Re: Twingalaxies down
[QUOTE=TodayIsForgotten;252988]The chances that anyone gets sponsored playing retro games is very small. Barra is pretty spot-on. You may find someone and i mean one(1).
Look at any of the sites that have retro leagues. There are no more than 30 people, 50 if you want to include MARP playing retro titles for competition. If there were thousands of players, yes then sponsors would be more prevalent.
Thing is no one cares about retro titles or WR anymore. They are too busy playing Call of Duty or Guitar Hero. More specifically, money is in FPS ( and fighting, RTS) not retro.[/QUOTE

Re: Twingalaxies down
Sorry Rudy but its the truth. Whether we like it or not its something we have to accept. I would like just as much as you for someone to pay me to play games and break world records. Most people in this HOBBY dont have enough money to submit a score to TG, how the heck do you expect someone to sponsor you?

It's not true it's called being GREEN and ignorant, it is happening and there are things in THE works and I'm quite involved, even though you THINK or believe there is nobody who cares and or market....
Your dead wrong on top of and I don't expect you to comprehend or understand this CLASSIC gaming sales on all classic STUFF are up 40% in 7 years the people most interested 18-24 new interests
and NES alone the value of the carts and accessories are up 17 to 30 percent in 7 years
So don't tell me there is NO money or a way to form an ALL around league it's there were getting the RIGHT people, people who can market and do it right, not people who are close minded....
Anything can work or be marketed....
A@E and the other networks prove it DAILY.....
It's a conversation 90% of our scene don't understand.......
Bottom line there is stuff in the works and eventually its gonna blow everyone's mind just like anything else, that sounds crazy before it happens....

You keep talking about how we all just don't "get it" and you have some understanding we're missing, prove it. Get sponsored, steamroll our scoreboard and reveal your damning evidence against Cat. As the saying goes- put up or shut up.
I know you have a short temper but this needed to be said I think. Stay calm and prove me wrong if you can.

Re: Twingalaxies down
The problem with sponsoring retro gamers to play is that there is no market, there is absolutely nothing that could provide a return to the sponsors. All the coin-op units have all ceased to be manufactured ages ago, there is no equipment to plaster brands and logo's all over. What do you expect? Something like: "Nitro brand stools!!, the only stool worthy of Billy Mitchells ass!"?
There is no revenue from ad clicks from live-streams, you'd be lucky to get more than a few thousand streamers from the largest of tournaments. The fighting game community is one of the largest competetive markets out there, you know what they get from their sponsors? Arcade Sticks, that's it, no air fare, no hotel accommodations, not even a meal ticket.
There is no market, you can keep dreaming all you want, but nobody is dumb enough to put money into something when it is guaranteed they will see no return.
Seriously Rudy, stop wasting your time and energy, it's not going to happen.

This is because they are long out of manufacture, becoming rarer by the day as copies are lost/destroyed, and hoarded by the collector scene. Not because people are suddenly interested in buying copies to play for world records.

Re: Twingalaxies down
All I'm saying is that if I set around 15 or so world records which would cost a few thousand dollars to get Twin Galaxies to verified them. I would go onto Kickstarter and start a fundraiser to gain the money to pay for the scores to be verified.
I've seen plenty of crap get funded on Kickstarter (cough cough like $100,000 for Cheetahmen) so I'm sure people would fund me.

Re: Twingalaxies down
You shouldn't have to pay for it, that's the point. I saw a guy on FB saying it would cost someone almost 6k to beat all his scores. Who in their right mind would even consider that?

People Kickstart projects in exchange for some end result, usually the product being developed with the funds. Not so that you (and only you) get your name in a database entry.
Besides, if you're willing to drop so much money on a game playing setup, and are willing to spend DAYS playing games for no cost (instead of doing a job which pays you money) you should have no problem paying whatever fee TG is asking for.

You seem pretty optimistic and devoted, which is a good start, but as it currently stands it's an empty boast. If there ever are sponsors for world records, and you are as skilled as you say, I'm sure you could probably land one, but does that really seem like a likely scenario at time?

I can remain calm and I don't have to PROVE jack to you anyone here the steamroll is a given, my NUMBERS would clearly steam roll any score that is not as high as mine, second evidence is everywhere, and I will post some stuff but not all....
Third I been sponsored as I was to the KOng OFf last year EVERYTHING was paid for by two people my room flights/food/drinks etc...
You want evidence learn about who I am get off the page type my name on any search and learn who I really am.....
Nuff said

By the way I'am avail for exclusive interviews MONDAY-FRIDAY 4AM-12AM PST.
and on SUNDAYS from 8AM-5PM excluding holidays......
Than you can learn who I am and why it's a waste of my time to take away from these guys what they earned and worked so hard for, ESPECIALLY on any games i PLAY OR ENJOY......

Does that mean that you quit?!?!

Many of the systems I already own and most old games are pretty cheap on Amazon. So I'm actually not dropping that much money at all.
And I've seen all kinds of Kickstarter projects, even one to raise money for a pet dogs surgery.
What if someone set a new Donkey Kong world record, but didn't have the money to spend an order to get it verified. Wouldn't you chip in a few bucks for the guy? Its about having someone breaking the scores and supporting them, that's what matters.

Maybe for donkey kong, but not some obscure title on some console nobody has ever heard of. Also I dont see "chipping in a few bucks" as sponsorship.

Not really interested in MAME and every title COUNTS that is why Barra ur clueless, an obscure title needs more exposure like a new play in a sport or a B movie if you understand what that means....
Bum DK that is becoming so played out and the idiots who follow it...
Any game can be what BUM DK was it's all about marketing....
Fellowroot I do not think u get it bud I'm losing interest and right now I'm working on making all around gaming something for the future, I have done my work SCREW Mame if I want a score ill get it but it really does not matter for me....
I done all I needed to do as for as scores far more than I expected, here and there Ill go for games but until we get paid it's getting old quick....
Maybe if it's DK before DK was exploited DK was just a game, it's so stupid how our community thinks LOL

Your statements prove you have no clue or understanding of marketing or promo of new games or products NONE....
Although you have a right to ur opinion however you sound like Rob M and Dwayne R and other close minded people...
DK was nothing till it was exploited NOTHING but a regular game
Anything and everything can be marketed even the games YOU think nobody ever heard of.....
I know u prob don't remember because its clear u do NOT pay attention my argument on HOME ALONE the horrible garbage stupid unknown game got more VIEWS and HITS than any other article in a 5 day TG history EVER even since when TG forums started, what you gonnna say to that some lame excuse, well because it was Rudy well that is true lol, because my attitude, because what....
Because I can take ANY title and make it popular always have and always will, if you actually came out of ur BOX, you see I got 140 likes for my 0 score to Qbert 172 and my story was hidden and I got so many emails and calls and had 4 interviews about it but the game I played nobody ever heard of that is because of the idiots who run things, clicks add up exposure is what brings in dollars press etc.... My TG article got more hits and VIEWS than Ken Houses Dig Dug and Victors Missle Command COMBINED TOTAL
What is the excuse
Here it goes 10% of the gaming population is actually smart and is starting to see the bias ONE sided BS cover up and are tired of it....
Anyways I'm done using my brain and finger muscles taking to walls and if ya don't get it now you never will......
I can take any game destroy it with a 0 score a max score or LOW score and get more press on it even IF the others ignore it....
Remember that and I always will
