If everyone who's using a keyboard is at a huge disatvantage it doesn't make it fair at all.

Actually, I've played around half of my Marble Madness games using a keyboard. I do have a controller with my PC at home, but I also play nearly every day on my breaks at work and my machine at work does not have a controller.

One of the best home versions of this game was released on the Commodore Amiga. I used to play it (more than 20 years ago...wow, I'm getting old) on that system and only used the keyboard.

The key to Marble Madness is less about using a controller and more about getting used to the feel of the game.

Is the crashing issue only happening when you press F12 to submit? Does it ever happen in the console games?

I just plugged in a digital controller. It nearly doubled my score. You can not get full speed on a keyboard. I think this game was a bad pick. Sorry, my fault. But all the team's are probably at the same disadvantage.

I've done some testing on my computer, and it is beginning to look like my virus software may be what is interfering with MAME on my PC. I use Norton 360 and whenever it is active my computer freezes when I try to submit a score. As soon as I shut Norton off I don't seem to have any problems with MAME.

I don't know if this could be what is causing similar problems for anyone else, but it seems to be the case with my machine.

I have had no issues with crashing at all when a score is submitted.

Ok I need some help. I was trying to adjust some of the control settings and I ended up inverting the controls. Is there a way where I can default them back?

Click on "Analog Controls" tab, then make sure that both "Reverse" controls are turned "Off". Also, you can set most of the controls back to default by highlighting that particular control and clicking "Enter".

It is a bit late but if you press tab to bring up the menu and then select Analog Controls and set Track X and Y sensitivity to 250 then the keyboard controls will be much better. If I do that then my keyboard score is the same as my joystick score.

Ill give that a try as well. If anything this game is making me explore more control options and giving me a chance to test some things out. Not what I planned for but helpful in its own way.

Kong quick question on the bonus games. For Shinobiis it supposed to have the coin lock at 1 coin only. If so I dont know how many levels there are in that game but that would seem a little rough to only have 1 credit for the whole game.

I think it's possible to do on one coin. The reason is extra lives can be earned in the bonus rounds upon successful completion. It definitely doesn't make it easy, but I think it is possible.

I believe the other versions of the game (i.e. NES, SMS, etc.) also don't have continues, so I think it's the same in that regard.

Yes, only one coin in Shinobi. It is very hard and would be very impressive if someone beats it. You have a couple weeks though.

I agree. I think we would of won Punch-out and Marble Madness if even one other player would of played. Punch-out we were only a 3 man team and was only off by 90,000 or something, and madness was like 56,000 off or something. Its still fun though, so what can we do except maybe play harder.

It's a real bummer when people on your team don't play. Mega Men is the real shocker, though. Didn't they used to be a competitive force? Kong always sets good scores, but when no one else plays, it's pretty tough.
