I found some old pictures of the basement in my last apartment. The whole place was a slum really but the basement was on another level. It had a pack of feral cats living there with no one even attempting to get rid of them. They are responsible for the squirrel pelts and bones in the first picture. Also in the pic is the washer dryer set up for tenants. No way the landlord missed this it's right at the bottom of the stairs.

Picture 2 looks kinda tame but in the context of the bedbug infestation we encountered months later it's a lot more sinister.

Picture 3 I'm not even sure what it is, a water heater? I just hope it wasn't still hooked up to anything.

I went by there recently and because the front door was open I got to see a do not enter sign on the basement door. I bet they just blocked the doors and gave up on it.

I think that is a really old water heater. With the insane amount of rust on it, it either had a leak at the top and they just kept using it anyways until it completely failed or something else was leaking water on it.

We actually used to do laundry in that squirrel burial ground before it got out of control. It's right at the foot of the stairs and the scary part is through a door on one end of the room. It was always dark and creepy. I would go down there with my wife when she was doing laundry because I just didn't trust it. I know it sounds irrational but it was 6-7 apartments and the landlord rented to anyone who could pay. Besides that I saw the outside basement door left open frequently. Lastly the couple on the first floor by the basement door were both mental and crazy religious. Screaming and fighting about the lord and stuff. It was a nuthouse.

There was a room that was almost completely empty besides a chair just sitting in the middle of the room. I thought we took a picture of it but I couldn't find it. Because I saw that I called it the Saw basement. It looked like it was a bunch of insane torture rooms.

We didn't do laundry down there for very long.
