Re: Spider-Man Reboot!

No similarity at all, DB. First off, Deathstroke takes his job seriously, Deadpool does not. Deathstroke fights with 90% brain capacity at all times making him far more dangerous than Deadpool. Plus, Deathstroke is blind in one eye, hence his mask. Deadpool has a healing factor. Plus looking back at Deadpool's history, Wade Wilson is just an alias! Even Deadpool doesn't know what his real name is. The only reason it's seen as corny and old school is because it's older. Yes, I do care because I read both and it's obvious to me both companies have different strengths. Marvel's biggest one is the kids it seeks out. Aside from Elektra, Marvel's target audience is the younger readers. DC has not suffered loss of readership, so there are still people who prefer DC to Marvel.

And DereDevil is full on blind, yet is a highly effective fighter.

Either way, this debate has gotten too serious.

Yeah none at all! I guess that's why Deathstrokes wiki article has this in it-

Also this entry on the Marvel Wikia(I bet the DC one has a similar entry)-

While this character didn't seem to be as skilled at fighting as Deathstroke, his healing factor seemed far more effective, with Slade becoming annoyed at how hard he was to kill). This character tries to introduce his name multiple times but is always interrupted. The most he was able to get out was "Dea-". It could be implied Deadpool is the Marvel counterpart of Deathstroke, who was created 11 years earlier. Marvel seemingly acknowledged this in the Cable/Deadpool series, where Deadpool sometimes answers a letters column. Deadpool claimed that he didn't want to be in a Marvel/DC crossover, because people might mistake him for a certain DC character. The two of them actually met during a Mr. Mxyzptlk-influenced crossover event, in which the two of them fought with conflicting contracts to both kill and save Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne.
So yeah I guess the similarity is pretty well accepted.

Wikipedia isn't always right. My sources are usually from the company websites themselves. Marvel disavows any similarities at all.

Re: Spider-Man Reboot!

Hang on. I'm getting to it.

---------- Post added at 04:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:33 PM ----------

Okay, so I was wrong on the name bit. But it says here he is fluent in multiple languages, uses a teleportation device to get out of danger, and most times uses a combination of guns and blades doing his missions. Unlike Deathstroke, Deadpool will occasionally work with others. Deathstroke operates alone primarily. Deadpool has no one favorite target. Deathstroke makes it his mission to destroy the Teen Titans. Plus Deadpool has an immunity to most poisons. DareDevil can not fight Deathstroke and hope to win without aid. Why do you think Deathstroke is so dangerous to tackle alone.

That was all from Marvel's website. I hate trying to post proof to someone and expect them not to go looking themselves. But, I'll humor you.

Re: Spider-Man Reboot!

I hate being wrong most of the time, but this doesn't really count for hating it. BUT, similar or not the similarities end there. Besides, I still think Deathstroke would do what no man can and that is outfight Deadpool. Besides, what differentiates the characters is their attitudes anyway you look at it. So, I'm conceding at this point, but not on the other.

Re: Spider-Man Reboot!

Fenrir you're splitting hairs about this. The point I'm trying to make is the majority of comic book fans realize that Deadpool is very similar to Deathstroke. Similar does not mean exactly the same. Also you shouldn't be fighting this, it helps your case since I'm saying Marvel basically copied a DC character.

I linked Wikipedia because it's a well known resource, it's more accurate then you may think. I also link the Marvel Wiki, that is probably the most accurate because it's updated and maintained by super comic book nerds. If someone tried to post inaccurate info it would be noticed and fixed.

Go browse the site yourself and see if it stands up to your scrutiny. I'm willing to bet you won't find any misinformation.
Marvel Comics Database

Same goes for the DC one. I never check it so I can't verify it with experience but I'm willing to bet it's just as good.

Re: Spider-Man Reboot!

I just admitted defeat, dude. Don't rub my nose in it. Besides, you know full well Marvel did not copy or else DC would have had them for lunch in court over copyright.

Nah, I say otherwise. When it gets that serious, a good sharp response like that snaps me back to reality. Besides, I'm sitting here thinking how best to respond to the next thing that comes up without being mislead myself.

Like I said, I can make an exception. The other thing would be if I could pull the old gag from some of the older Bugs Bunny cartoons where the opponent's head turns into a donkey's when he gets suckered.
