It's really a question of numbers when it comes to election time.

To be clear she was refusing to issue licenses to everyone because she disagreed with the gay marriage ruling. Then she was ordered to comply by the court and she ignored it. When brought before a judge for contempt of court she refused to even let her deputies issue the licenses. She was released because she agreed to let them. Despite that she said that any done without her consent aren't valid so she might be going back to jail soon.
You support all that, refusing to do a job she swore to do because of her extremism?

I'd say republicans are much better at falling in line with whoever they're told to like. They also don't like change or diversity very much so it's easy to settle on a candidate that suits the majority. Democrats are fickler but I think it's because the group is much more diverse. Calling them losers isn't fair.
Also in the last three elections(including this one) republicans have a clown car full of candidates. They don't seem very unified.
I have no idea about the organization of third parties. Those candidates always seem so unelectable I don't pay attention.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
I don't know anything more than the headline. Why wasn't she just fired for not doing her job?
A business owner should be able to deny service to anyone, as long as it is not a secret. His other customers should be aware that they are supporting a bigot.
An employee should be fired for denying service to anyone the owner wants to service.
The government should service everyone equally.
A police officer goes to Walmart to buy a pack of condoms and a ham. After standing in line the cashier says "sorry, I'm catholic. You will have to buy your condoms from another cashier." The officer says fine, and waits in a new line. The next cashier says, "sorry, I'm Jewish, you will have to ask another cashier to ring up your ham." The officer says fair enough and waits in line again. The third cashier says "I'm an anarchist, I don't serve police officers." How many of these cashiers have a job next week?
Legally business's aren't allowed to deny anyone service because it used to be a huge (mostly racist) problem. I think our culture has moved far enough along that a law is no longer required. Just require bigot companies to be public about their politics and they will fold. I think/hope.

Elected, she can't be fired. So she's taking a tax payer funded pay check and refusing to earn it.

That might work in big cities but in small towns? Nope. I've lived in some small towns and usually there's one real store and a few other mom and pops that have practically nothing. If the owner of the real store decides he's not serving gays, blacks, women, ect then all those people are just screwed. They shouldn't be forced to travel long distances just because that guy wants to be a bigot. If someone wants to do business with the public then they should be forced to follow the law.

Nope. If we got rid of discrimination laws we'd have chaos and riots. Do you really think racism is dead in places like the deep south? Think about all the people who support Mike Huckabee for president. He jumped on the Chik fil a anti gay hate wagon and even called for a day honoring the restaurant chain because they donated lots of money to openly hostile groups that fight equality for gays. Now he's all over this Kim Davis thing even though she clearly broke the law and has shown no respect for the supreme court ruling. These kind of supporters would keep an openly bigoted business open. Here's them protesting gay equality by shoving fast food chicken into their gullets-

Yeah that whole chic fil a thing was an absolute shitshow. There was 1 guy who said stuff against gay marriage, then the warriors decided to try to drag the entire company through the mud, attempting to hurt thousands of innocent franchise owners and employees. Then the whole thing backfires and the image above happens. Can't help but to laugh.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
Safe bets: if you are Protestant then your grandparents were born in some once upon a time British colony. If you are Catholic then once a Spanish colony. Muslim, the Middle East. Hindu in India. Buddhist then China. If you were born 2,000 years ago then you most likely wouldn't believe in any modern religion.
Obviously your religion is not a universal truth. It's a personal choice that has more to do with your family tree than than divine wisdom. No matter what god you worship, most of the world disagrees with you. Get over it. Grow up and accept you can not and should not have power over other people's beliefs, the same as you would not want someone dictating your beliefs. Religion is either a personal choice or a crusade/jihad to force your beliefs on others. If it is not a personal choice then you are an immature asshole.
The core American values are diversity, tolerance, equality for all, freedom from persecution, freedom to pursue personal happiness, consumerism and credit card debt. If you don't agree with those values, you are unAmerican. Renounce your citizenship and leave.

Wrong!
The CEO openly opposed gay rights. The corporation donated millions of dollars to oppose equality, the corp treated employees differently based on orientation and the corp co-wrote a bill that would allow them to fire employees based on orientation.
Chick-fil-A's official stance since September 2012 is "We will treat every person equally, regardless of sexual orientation." They learned being a bigot at a national level is corporate suicide and quickly changed their tune. In small towns, maybe they could get away with it. I'm not sure. But if a wedding photographer can't find it in his heart to photo a gay or interracial wedding then I don't think he should be forced. He should though be required to publicly tell his other customers who he will and will not serve.
@elected officials can't be fired. Isn't there an impeaching process for refusing to do your job? It's probably slower but there is some processes to remove her from office right?

Yeah this. It's like how the Mormons funneled millions into California to sway the gay marriage vote in their favor. It's not about disagreeing it's about these groups fighting tooth and nail against equality.

Okay, still a shitshow.
I think any company that would openly not serve any one based on race, creed or religion, or whatever would close its doors quickly, but I am all for them having the right to do it. I consider myself an average guy for the most part, and I know I would feel uncomfortable being in that store if I was on the okay to serve list.

Quote:

But why? You're talking about allowing people to open businesses that openly break the law. It would incite riots and violence on top of all the political and social justice drama.
I'm really having a hard time understanding the people who enthusiastically support discrimination against gays. I get that their holy books supposedly tells them it's a really bad thing to do. I get that they're instructed to "help" people that engage in it. Where they lose me is when they embrace the dark side and seem to relish in the "sinners" pain. They actively fight against them becoming equal(not just marriage) and they speak to/about them as if they're subhuman and jesus will help them evolve. All I ever see from these people is hate, anger, cruelty and hollow platitudes like "jesus/allah loves you!". But of course their god loves everyone. I doubt Jesus would've been up there celebrating with Huckabee and Davis. The scariest part is these people think he would be. People be crazy.

Because I support peoples rights.
I'm just guessing on this, but I betcha most of the cases of this are not based so much on prejudices, but more so previous history. For example, seeing a southern rich hick-type character who only opens his doors to whites because he is racist, is probably far less common, than something like an Asian family owned business who have had terrible experiences serving black people in the past, no doubt in a ghetto where gang mentality is prevalent.. So they don't allow service to black people because they'd rather not deal with the ones that cause them problems.
EDIT: after some internet searching, I think there is no point even discussing this because it seems like it virtually never happens...

So do I but you're going too far with it. If you allow people to openly discriminate then why not allow drug dealers to set up a store? Maybe a store for people to steal identities? People don't have a right to break the law.

It used to happen all the time in the US and now there are people pushing for laws that would allow them to stop serving gays, foreigners(if they don't speak English) and other groups they don't like. They tried claiming that their freedom of expression/speech was being criminalized and that didn't work so now they're pushing the religious liberty angle.
So the Oath Keepers have said that Kim Davis was illegally imprisoned and they'll put boots on the ground to prevent it from happening again. So that means we now have an aggressive, heavily armed militia openly defying the law and threatening law enforcement. Over some hypocrite refusing to do her job. People are seriously losing their minds.

Her god's wrath against homosexuals is equal to his hatred of contempt of court. I wish Christians were required to read the entire bible before entering politics. If bible class in public schools ensured every American studied the entire bible, without cherry picking I would vote yay!

Because it is illegal because before it was outlawed it was very common.
In all large cities I often see homeless denied service based solely on hygiene, mental illness, and addiction. If I owned a for profit store, I also would want to shoe them away because they are bad for business, but it is a class of people that are actively discriminated against by nearly everyone in America. So ubiquitously that few even notice. Minorities and especially blacks were treated way worse before the law.

I didn't realize it was against a the law. Does it basically say you need to serve everyone. Because I know that there are lots of places that ban people individually. I was at one point not allowed in 2 of the 3 malls in my hometown.

They're trying to defend it as a states rights issue. I'm not sure if Huckabee is backing that angle but that's all I've heard from her other supporters. Apparently they think state law trumps the supreme court ruling. This lady is pretty much a modern day George Wallace-
Defying the law of the land and supported by a lot of southern christians.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
@steven. Since 1964 federal law prohibits privately owned, publicly accessible business from denying service based on race, color, religion or national origin. Nonprofit organizations such as churches are exempt. Later federal law added disabilities to the list. 20 states also include sexual orientation. Denying service based on any other reason is allowed.

I'm almost 100% sure "age" is included in the anti discrimination laws. I know workplaces aren't allowed to deny employment/fire over it.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
Well obviously I mean they can't discriminate against anyone who meets the minimum age requirements. In the US(at least my state) you can't work if you're under 14 and you need to fill out a workers permit that then needs to be signed off on by the superintendent(or something) of the commonwealth you live in, even if you're a drop out.
The ageism part protects people from being replaced by younger people just because they're younger. It means employers need to have a valid reason to terminate your employment. Looking old isn't one.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
That one is a bit trickier. Hooters has appealed to the courts to be covered under the law that allows businesses to discriminate if it is important to the functioning of their business(like Mens Warhouse wanting only male models) but they still lost a court battle from a man who wanted to be a waiter. They compromised by having other positions that are unrestricted like bartender, busboy, cooks, ect. So yeah I think granny wouldn't get hired to show off her low hangers.
