And to add to the "death in three's" superstition, yet another actor died yesterday. Ruth Robinson Duccini, one of 2 surviving munchkins from The Wizard of Oz died yesterday too, at age 95.

Holy crap, don't "little people" normally have a very short life expectancy? 95 is crazy. RIP.

I don't think so. Doing a little searching, unless they have a specific health problem, they live normal life spans. So I imagine just like the rest of us, some die early, some middle age, some elderly. There was another one of the munchkins, Margaret Pelligrini, that died last summer, but she wasn't quite as old at 89. Heard her on the radio earlier in the year, she was still making public appearances. The remaining one, Jerry Maren (one of the 3 that "represent the Lollipop Guild"), is 93.

wow! I was thrown off a while back then, I thought Ruth Duccini was the last of them. I guess Jerry Marin is carrying on the legacy now!

Don't know if you consider reality show stars "celebrities", but if so, one of the main people on Shipping Wars, Roy Garber, died from a massive heart attack yesterday at 49.

Re: dead celebrities
Apparently Jew Wario from that guy with the glasses group killed himself last night.
This was just posted to 4chan:
"It is with a very sad heart that I must confirm my husband, Justin Carmical, sometimes known as the Jew Wario died on Thursday, January 23rd.
I also have to confirm he shot himself, but he was not alone, he locked himself in the bathroom and I was on the other side of the door talking with him. He knew I loved him, HE KNEW ALL OF YOU LOVED HIM. You all made him so happy, every time he was recognized from his videos, it made him giddy with joy.
His last recording was a song with Johnathan Mann, I don't know if Johnathan knows. He recorded it the night before.
I am surrounded by family and friends, and am taking this one moment at a time, remembering to breathe. I want to share with you what the Chaplain said to me, it was a momentary mistake, hold on to the good memories. I will post an update once a decision has been made about funeral arrangements.
If I need anything I will let you know, just hold on to each other and love each other, and thank you all so much for loving him so much."
Can't confirm that story, but he is dead.

RIP Shirley Temple. A big loss for the entertainment world, but she lived quite a long life which is always good.

I don't to be rude but why is it a big loss? From what I can tell the last acting work she did was in 1963.

Re: dead celebrities
Just in terms of her being an iconic figure during that time and inspiring others, especially women, to get into acting. You can't deny in her time that she made a strong impact on television. Case in point: She hasn't acted since 1963 yet I know who she is and so do most people around my age who weren't even born before she stopped acting.

Re: dead celebrities
Well of course she's an icon but her dying shouldn't change that, in fact it will probably just make her more iconic. I'm just wondering why lots of people are acting like it's a big loss for the entertainment industry. I bet most of those people didn't even know she was still alive until today.

Re: dead celebrities
That's true. As morbid as it is, she'll be more popular now than she has been in years because of her death.

It doesn't have to be seen as morbid. We keep people in our memories because they mean something to us. Think of it as memorializing her life. You don't know what you got until it's gone, right?

Funny, that's exactly what I thought when I saw the news. I only know her for her roles as a little kid and to be honest, I really have no idea why she is considered such an icon.

A little research shows that she made 40 movies before the age of 12 and is considered the first child star of movies. Wasn't popular as a grown up actor so got into politics for a bit.
