Ok, I'll give you 10 months from launch date for Microsoft to announce the discontinuation of the Xbox. Does that sound like fair terms? What do you want to the wager to be? Avatar control for a month?

Nah, I'll still be here. At least I'll be here being objective about it, not subjective like the rest of you fanboys.

Hey, I'm in the same boat. I like both systems, and feel there is a place for each. I don't get all the fan boy behavior on either side. I think Nintendo does classic game play exceptionally well, and 360 creates stories exceptionally well.
I don't get the angst. I know E3 is going on right now, so game nerdism is at an all time high, but I have to admit I haven't seen any game titles from E3 so far that I am really excited about other than Kid Icarus, and I wish that had been on Wii. Still, to each their own.

I think everyone has stated what side of the Xbox fan fence they are on. No need to repeat yourself.
I think it would be best if all three consoles would die so they could focus on software and peripherals for PC only.

I agree, but I think N64 created that path.

I agree that the N64 along with the PS1 and Saturn opened the door.

Those words are words of beauty, words that make Shakespeare look like the writing of a mere child, words that none truer have been spoken.
Now, I am not as extreme as you, in that I'd like Sony to stick around.

Re: E3 2010 - Microsoft
Really guys I wanna stay out of this but what the hell? Do you guys really feel that strongly about the 360? I love retro games too but you can't just ignore the current games. Why limit yourself and miss out on all these awesome games? We should be about the games not who makes them.
You guys think I'm a 360 fanboy but I'm not. I just can't sit by while people trash it unfairly. Millions of people love it. Kids are growing up with it as their first system. Face it, it's here to stay for awhile.
Is there any chance we can talk about the new 360 games that will probably be cool? I saw Fable3 and GOW3 mentioned. I know I'll be getting Gears of War but Fable I'll try to borrow from someone, Fable2 wasn't that great imo. Anyone else?

Re: E3 2010 - Microsoft
I don't understand what you Microsoft hating people want. New games that are all 2D and retro? That will never happen. Microsoft has nothing to do with that.
I thought Microsoft's E3 conference was super weak, for the record.

Who's industry? It's as much mine as it is yours, I spend good money and I like the games I like. My 360 does me good and keeps my attention much more often than my Wii did. If you want old games, play old games.
360 has too many FPS games.
Wii has too many mini game collections and shovelware.
PS3 has no good games.
Derp derp derp. Just stop it.

I don't like it, but I understand the fact that it has good games. Gears of War 3 looks like it will be alright, and that Halo game they announced a while back looks to be the best of the series.
I don't care if it stays around or not, I just really don't care.

Xbox 360 Slim: Microsoft Finally Solves the RRoD
It has emerged that Microsoft has finally solved its long running RRoD problem in the new Xbox 360 Slim, in true Microsoft style – by removing the red light from the design completely.
The specification reveals the modest reduction in size the unit enjoys, as well as the removal of a certain red LED:
Whether this was done deliberately to terminate the RRoD for PR purposes or just to save a few cents on the unit cost is unclear, as is whether the Green Ring of Death will simply replace the Red.

You know I was just going to mention that, Some of the arcade game look like their going to be fun, but it's hard to get that point out with all the crap everyone's throwing at each other. Seriously, this is ridiculous, I looked at this thread for some news on what Microsoft came out with at E3(besides that stupid Kinect thing), and I've seen nothing but 3 1/2 pages of fanboy hate with trolling and bickering.

Xbox 360 Slim RRoD Risk “May Be Identical to Older Models”
Hackers dissecting the Xbox 360 “Slim” report a disturbing discovery – internal parts thought to be associated with RRoD failures remain unchanged, causing some to speculate that the new model may have the same problems which plagued older revisions.
At the heart of the speculation is the so called “X-clamp,” a part which is claimed to be one of the major contributory factors to RRoD, and which hardware hackers quickly noted with some consternation remains substantially identical between the models.
An explanation given by “modders” (actually just pirates using the usual euphemisms about “backups” and “modding”):
Quote:
X-Clamps are metal brackets which hold the Xbox 360 CPU and GPU down tightly onto the motherboard. There are two individual x-clamps within the Xbox 360 which hold down the heat sinks for the CPU and GPU.
Since they have been poorly designed the x-clamps bend when introduced to immense heat (if you’ve ever played an Xbox 360 you know it gets hot), and with that bend the Xbox 360 motherboard and break the connection between the GPU (sometimes CPU too) and the motherboard, thus you will have a RROD.
Although there are many things that can cause the RROD this is the most common.
|
Supposedly after-market clamps can stave off these failures.
Failure rates in the later revisions of the hardware are said to be less dire than the oft-quoted 54% figure, but the console still possesses an apparently well deserved reputation for atrocious reliability.
As to what parts cause most of the failures, only Microsoft can say (and they certainly seem intent on saying nothing), but excessive preoccupation with cutting unit costs at the expense of quality seems to characterise Microsoft’s gaming hardware.
Just how reliable the new version will be remains to be seen, but it seems Microsoft’s cunning removal of the red LED may have been its only effort at eliminating lingering problems in the new model.

Would that make a difference in the thing overheating? I could be wrong but I don't think the cd spinning has to do with the over heating, if anything it would probably help keep it cool.
