Re: ArcadeOX version 2 feature request
About file size. There are several issues.
1. ArcadeOX 1 can not handle files much larger than 20MB. This is being addressed in AOX2 and should be fixed but needs some more testing to be 100% sure.
2. Dial up can not handle large games. Most people have broadband though so this isn't an issue.
3. Bandwidth and file space are limited and expensive. They have to be paid by something. Currently they are paid for by ads and donations. If we added many huge games then that probably would not cover it. I have a solution for this but it will not be available until probably 2011-12.
That means RU will only have a few 20-50MB games this year. In other words 2-5 times are currently largest games.
As I said earlier, AOX2's main focus is being usable on other sites, not just RU. That means if other sites want to use if for large games and have the ability to pay for the bandwidth and filespace then they can. With the possibility of it eventually being used for stuff like Home | Dungeons & Dragons Online. DDO is nearly the size of a DVD so it is a bit of an exaggeration but was the best example I could think of off the top of my head.

I feel bad for anyone stuck on dial up but at this point I wouldn't even consider them. If it means limiting the rest in some way then it's not worth it. Dial up users should expect problems and just accept them.

Re: ArcadeOX version 2 feature request
I didn't mean dial up users were a consideration just that download speed is part of it. I should have said a 100MB file on a common DSL line will take about 10 minutes to download. That is not so long that it rules it out but it is long enough to matter. My Internet connection which is top of the line for home personal use would download it in about 2 minutes.

Re: ArcadeOX version 2 feature request
I dare suggest:
- MSX games. There are fantastic and exclusive games at his library.
- Handheld simulators. Would be great to compete for points with Game & Watch games. MADrigal's site have many of them to download.
- Rapid fire option for some arcade games. Mashing buttons frequently isn't funny and do my fingers bleed...

Disregard last sentence. Long live the master Takahashi.
Not so much for my hands, but fine.

I'll just mention this again for the heck of it. Being able to watch your competitors play would be super cool.

Also when is ArcadeOX 2 scheduled for release if someone has a date (if not an exact date that's still cool)

Yeah, again, Linux support would be superb. Be great to not be discriminated against for choosing not to give money to evil global corporations such as Microsoft! :P

I was just joshing him, I don't care about Mario games enough to want them on another system. Let Nintendo have their fun and hopefully it keeps them alive.

There's a difference between a third party publisher and a first party publisher.
