I agree with Justinm26 we are naive to think that.
By the way I have not yet met any aliens, its just that those are only two of the three options of how aliens would behave. (the other being neutral towords us and don;t care what happens to us.)

We should wait until we are totally unified in our stellar system until we go travelling to other systems.

Besides, why would aliens want to harm us? What do we have?

Perhaps, in a century or two, we'll have trading agreements with these foreign powers.
