Guys, the whole "gender roles" thing is pretty archaic at this point. People
a right to do what they want and not be judged for it. You sound like those
seniors that believe that women should be doing housework all day. Just
because society thinks it's right doesn't mean it is.

I can't believe I have to say it again but, it's a show. It doesn't matter
who the show targets, but if the show is good. I'm pretty sure the show is
enjoyable, I mean, there must be a reason guys are watching it.

I already said it's an unfair double standard. It is still unusual in our society though and some parents would even discourage it. It would be seen as going against the gender roles.

You all would do well to embrace gender roles, they are what make men men, an what make women women. I love the fact that women are interested in, and do woman things, it makes them attractive. Put away your pedestals for a moment, and try appreciating the better half.

guys who watch this show is weird, but now that I ask about girls
liking GI Joe you're saying it's society being unfair.

Again, that whole thing with the gender roles is stupid, that stuff
was gone decades ago for women because it's a stupid standard set
by society. You shouldn't be judging a guy for liking a girls show.
If DM came here for the first time and was outright a brony, people
would judge him based solely on his tastes and not the person he
is. We all know DM is a great guy and just because he likes this
show it doesn't make him any different from the rest of us.

I know you don't like me comparing what you're saying to the
sexist things many people still do say, but the reality is they
aren't that different because you're simply basing your judgement
on what you expect other individual to be like based on society's
standards. You say you can't change that, but with a mentality
like that, nothing can be done, change only happens when you are
willing to break the code.

I know I sound preachy but, it's true. Bronys are people, and I
don't think we should judge them based on what television show
they watch.

We live in a global community that still openly discriminates against gay people. Things are changing, very slowly, but it's still reality. All I'm doing is pointing out that these roles still exist and it's not something you can just change overnight by discussing MLP.

My only real argument for your posts is that just because things are geared towerds one Area or Generation, does not mean it wont be picked up or expanded by another. Many awesome Video game characters, have games geared towards younger players. Like Kirby Mass Attack for example. Many Sonic and Mario games are also Aimed at little kids even though its a lot of US adults who are pcking up the games ourselves. While you do occasionally have the game thats aimed at us, you cant just vote on where something should be just by looking at its appearance. That's like the people who say that Anime is cartoon and cartoon are for kids. [Then the parents see Some of said anime.. and go basket crazy.]

Also, while the show is aimed at children, its also there to be watched by their parents as well. There are a lot of 'kids' shows that are also aiming jokes at the adults watching as well. This type of show is made for Family viewing, including adults.

@Belmontzar - I am not saying things can't change, actually it's the exact opposite.

Also the show is not aimed at children, it's aimed at girls.

I thought the Valentines day episode was good, I liked that Big Macintosh got some lines. He is one of the few competent male ponies in the show.

I guess maybe it's just one of those shows that tried to be "Fun for the whole family" as many shows/movies say they are, yet it doesn't usually happen. Maybe this show actually did that time?

yeah there aren't that many actual Male cast members in the show at all, I know its geared towards girls, but its like Big Mac is the ONLY guy there... besides Mister cake and Spike. Most of the men who appear tend to be REAL jerks.

I can't quite make the connection with rarity. Fluttershy reminds me of some of my children, so I guess that's why I love her episodes so much.


Related, that's one of the reasons I got into the show; a few of my children are still..well...young children. This happens to be a favorite of my twins Zeinab and Zamzam.
