Re: Minecraft: You must play it
Even if I were to host a server it could not be for long periods of time or all day and night. If I get the game and like it I could see myself leaving it running late night for several hours but that would be the extent of it really.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it

type that in the multiplayer section of your minecraft.exe once its loaded up.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
So how much would it cost to buy it? If I'm gonna play it I'd want to try online with RU people. From everything I've seen and read it seems like I'll love it but until I try it live with people I won't know for sure.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
okay, first off. My ram was the big issue as I thought and I got a million timeouts. I don't know how I ran a stable one before but maybe today's just a bad day. I closed it down.
@DB. it is 18 US while in beta I believe. It was 14 for me in alpha. It goes up in price but I wouldn't worry about that for a long time yet.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
18 bucks isn't bad at all really. Got a link to a reliable download, like an official one that has been used a lot without issue?

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
The site lists it's price in pounds from what I saw. I'll probably get this tomorrow either way. If I buy the full version I get single/multiplayer and everything included right? I don't want any surprises after I buy it. Who here actually owns the full version?

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
I lost a daughter to this game.
{just kidding, but she does like to play a lot}
She got it a while back, and according to her the price has recently gone up due to the increasing popularity of the game.
I've watched her play it extensively and I would describe it as a Lego set for your computer, where you can create practically anything you want provided you can find or make the materials for it from the Minecraft 'World'.
Of course there are some pre - existing conditions and rules, the 'physics' of the game, but mostly it's a free for all.
{unfortunately the game isn't}
If you want something really different than the typical game fare of the day, I recommend Minecraft.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
So if we aren't able to get a dedicated server some how can we still save the world and load it up whenever we want or does it do a clean slate everytime? If my progress gets lost I could see it turning me off to the game pretty quickly.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
you get 5 save files that save for you. Of course there was that one time my world decided to forget my latest session and kill me as well since the world reverted. But that was once in like 200 times the save didn't load right. The game saves constantly so there is no redoes on anything.
Oh, unless you're talking about a personal private online server, then yes it saves the world there also.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
paypal isn't hard to get, I got it when I was like 13 and I just run pre-paids off it for the last few years. I don't remember it being difficult.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
I want to give them my money. I don't feel like I should be required to jump through hoops to do so. They should have just included different currencies for major markets.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
I agree with Tenser. Why not make this available in US currency? I have a paypal account but I never use it and I don't remember the password or which email account it's attached to. I'll probably figure it out in the next few days but I'm in no hurry.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
if I remember correctly you can change the currency on the pay page. Also, I never log into pay pal, it finds my email and asks if I want to use that old account.
Edit: it's different now, that is weird. You can gift the game now though, you could get a friend to gift it to you.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
You mean the unofficial, less than 0 dollars version? Either way let us know how you feel about it. No offense to cam but I don't usually agree with his opinions on games. Not that I always agree with you either but we seem to agree on the important stuff.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
I realised you like some different games recently :P Also, with the 0 dollar version you'll have to manually download every new update every few days to keep coming online. Or you could get the fastloader program exe solely for online.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
So far after the first night I'm liking it. I've started out with the mob difficulty toned all the way down and I'll raise it up as I get comfortable with the game.
12/29
I was lucky and spawned close to some trees and coal. the only real pain was that the coal is on an island surrounded by ice. I quickly established a mining base, crafted a bunch of tools and mined an initial corrdor about 1/3 of the way down from sea level to bedrock. In doing so I discovered a decent sized cavern and fully explored it. I've started to stockpile cobblestone, coal, clay, and smelted iron. I also did some initial hunting and made one piece of leather armor when daylight permitted.
Today I plan on doing a lot of exploring on the surface looking for an ideal location for a base camp.

Re: Minecraft: You must play it
if the game is on the peaceful difficulty then there is no enemies at all.Even easy spawns several of each enemy at night. I can be on my bridge and see like 7 creepers nearby, a few zombies, a few skeletons and at least 5 spiders all in view.
