Re: Requests to enable recording high scores in new games
I'm not sure if light gun games can support scores here at RU. However, games like Baby Boomer and Operation Wolf are Zapper-optional and should work.
If it's possible, please add score mode for Operation Wolf(NES), too. Thanks.

Duck Hunt is enabled, and it uses zapper.

Oh, you're right, Tails. I should have looked more before posting. Ah well. Oh, and Tails, you should try Operation Wolf too. It's awesome.

Re: Requests to enable recording high scores in new games
Those two games have been enabled. For some reason I think Baby Boomer was enabled but we had to take it out of scoring for some reason, I don't remember why so it's enabled.[br] Posted on: March 28, 2008, 06:23:50 AM_________________________________________________

You are correct. I do not have the skills needed to do it or I would do it. Until Kong has the time, you are going to have to enjoy it as is.

Re: Requests to enable recording high scores in new games
i was thinking i would really like the zelda 1 games for the nes score enabled now i know people are saying it does not have a score but you could use hearts as the score so the max could be 16 points but i was thinking you know that would be really easy for everyone to get 16 but then i though wait you cant use save states for a score in score mode so it would acctually only be the elite players that spend that much time to get 16 hearts in one sitting
so if you agree i would like the zelda games enabled... i have not thought of a way to get zelda 2 enabled yet just be cause you could change up the way you upgrade your weapons live and magic the top could be 999 but if i wanted to i could put all my points into weapons untill its 191 or all my points into life so its 911 but just a thought...

It wouldn't work for a couple of reasons:
1. It resets at every level up.
2. It has a cap at the last level.
|
As for the original Zelda, I don't think it's a good idea. It would be like Hangaroo just long and dragged out.

not to mention save states could cause a problem.

Re: Requests to enable recording high scores in new games
in score mode save states could not cause a problem because you cant load one you would have to play from begining to the 16th heart in 1 play through so i could be like hangaroo but you would have to dedicate a few hours just to get the 16th heart
and for zelda 2 i was not talking about using the points that increase your stats i was talking about using the stats themself
you start out with 1 life point 1 sword point and 1 magic point after each level up you go to 2-1-1 then 2-2-1 then 2-2-2 ect all the way up to 9-9-9

I still think it's a bad idea.
There's plenty of reasonable high score games here, I think you're stretching it a bit.

Re: Requests to enable recording high scores in new games
We can re-evaluate the idea after the new site is finished. It will treat ties differently. All ties will be first place instead of only the last or first person to get the high score receiving credit. We can see how that affects games like Hagaroo then make a decision.
Also because you can save your state in score games but not load then that means someone could play Zelda for their first time in score mode and then continue it in full mode.
I eventually want to develop a system that gives you credit for beating games regardless of the score or save states - maybe only allow save ram, not states.

Re: Requests to enable recording high scores in new games
States are like pausing.
RAM is like Zelda on a real NES.
The NES games here in Full Mode have both Save RAM (which is automatically handled when the original game supported it) and Save States.
The GB games here only have Save RAM.
The other systems here do not have Save RAM. Most have Save States.

Yeah, but it takes away a bargaining chip,
"Yes, dear. Just let me get to the next save point, then I'll get to....(said item on honey-do list)"
I like the save states also.
