Re: kickstarter games
He's still alive. Holy crap. And still as humble as ever...actually seems like he's gone further off the deep end.

This sounds like it would be the best outcome for him. That or funding some professional help.

I guess that comes with being insane.

Re: kickstarter games
Then he's just as insane (as well as full blown stupid) for going on about this for around 8 years now.
If this kickstarter passes then that just further perpetuates the notion that you can act like a complete retard on Kickstarter and the internet and make money. Bleh.
Anyways...
The Flying Hamster II Kickstarter got canned, the developers signed on with a publisher, FDG Entertainment.
Quote:
- Yes, Flying Hamster II will be released on Steam for PC Windows once we finish the development, other ports will follow later.
- Flying Hamster II won’t be downgraded or turned into any kind of freemium game: it will remain a full downloadable premium game.

I saw the trailer for Under the Dog but I thought it looked too actiony and familiar. If it does end up being gud I might regret it.

Re: kickstarter games
@SH- When I was at Otakon, they actually had a kickstarter panel there. Was pretty interesting. Not sure if it'll really be that good though.

Looking very promising for UTD. Less than 7k needed with 64 hours to go.

Re: kickstarter games
Updated T.O.S. says:
"When a creator posts a project on Kickstarter, they’re inviting other people to form a contract with them. Anyone who backs a project is accepting the creator’s offer, and forming that contract...the contract is a direct legal agreement between creators and their backers.
The creator is solely responsible for fulfilling the promises made in their project. If they’re unable to satisfy the terms of this agreement, they may be subject to legal action by backers"

Re: kickstarter games
It's a pretty crappy world when people are willing to sue for the $10 they gave for a game that they don't think is good enough, the term "good enough" being nebulous and completely subjective.

Re: kickstarter games
That sounds like legalese, in other words "we aren't responsible go sue the creators!". I doubt anyone will actually pursue it unless they lose a ton of money.

Re: kickstarter games
I don't think it's about delivering quality content, I think it's about delivering period.
Like that Double Fine guy who got like 8 million and blew through it, and said... uhhh we need more money -That's ridiculous. I don't know of any stories first hand since I don't even know if I've ever visited the site, but I know I've read that creators getting their money, and then magically lose interest in the project was an issue.

And speaking of new content...
YOUR “VOICE” HAS BEEN HEARD!
We’ve been seeing great discussions all over our forums, twitter feed and Facebook for the past week, all focused on a single burning question: English or Japanese? Which language will all the voice acting be in for Mighty No. 9?!
The response has been amazing: over 20,000 of you weighed in with your choice over the last few days, and now we’re finally back with your decision:
Mighty No. 9 will include English voice acting!
You might be thinking “Well DUH! Of course it’s English -- the largest majority of Mighty No. 9 backers speak English!” And sure, you’d be right, but you’d be surprised how close the vote was -- less than 1,000 votes separated the two choices, from the start right down to the end!
So a HUGE thanks to ALL of you for helping us make Mighty No. 9 a better game, with special thanks to our slacker backers and beckers who upped their reward tiers, since it’s their purchases that will make this bonus content possible and guarantees it for all our backers! You guys & gals are the best! ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ
And for anyone else still considering slacker backing, keep an eye out for our next extra bonus content possibility! We’ll have more details soon...speaking of which...
...What’s this?

...Hmmm, wonder what that was all about? Until next update!

Re: kickstarter games
Well, at least Shovel Knight payed off.
I'm not terribly upset by MN9 as I only put in $20 and it at least looks like it's well on it's way to be released.
Shantae does kind of worry me a bit as they seem ambiguous with how much they actually have completed, and it might get rough on them to stretch their deadline.
Everything else, I'm not so worried about.
Backed projects: - Shovel Knight
- River City Ransom: Underground
- Hyper Light Drifter
- Shantae: Half Genie Hero
- Mighty Number 9
- La-Mulana 2
- SUPERHOT

Shovel Knight was great. 3DS version is superior.
