Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
I played mostly N64 and Gamecube growing up. Today I read through this thread and learned that I was the downfall of the games industry.
I am 100% biased. No shame.

Don't worry SH I'm right there with you. I was like 16 when N64 was big and we played it mostly high as a kite but I'm right there with you.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
I guess as a boy I played more of the N64 and the first Xbox than I did of the Super Nintendo. I still remember that brief, glorious period of time in which I rented games.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
The well was very shallow, especially coming off of the SNES. How anyone could be happy with just what the N64 had to offer I'll never understand.
I bought a launch N64 with my own money, I think I was 17 or 18 at the time. I know it wasn't too long before I went to college. It marks the only time in my life that I became a multi-console owner of current gen consoles. Though honestly the N64 just got boxed up and shipped home sometime in 1999. By then all my gaming money was going to the Playstation.
It's not even funny when you compare how vastly superior the Playstation library is to the N64's. Nothing else matters except games, Sony was swimming in them, Nintendo wasn't.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
I don't understand how any of you can say the whole library was just going for graphics, that was like half the library at most honestly. Others may seem like that now, but just didn't age well. Besides, PS1 was guilty of the same thing. Shouldn't even say that, neither first party was responsible for the games just trying to be graphically impressive. That was all 3rd parties.
I know I said some bad things about the n64, but I still love it for the good games it has, which are plenty. Why it's up there in my favourites.
Why no speaking of Rare? Because they make Kinect Sports now, and nothing good? :P

Wrestling is good old american fun, commie. Plus you can blame Canada for it.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
What the hell, why blame Canada for wrestling?
I bought a 64 near launch too, after being disappointed time after time, I specifically remember the straw that broke the camels back, it was Shadowgate 64. If they could manage to ruin that then the whole thing was hopeless. I packed it up and sold it, and got a PS. And we played lots of 4 player PS throughout college, including wrestling games, Crash Team racing, MLS Soccer, Nascar Rumble, among others. Also any 4 player game that was on the NES. We also played lots of MK64 and Goldeneye too.
One saving grace, was that for some reason unbeknownst to me, N64 had an absolute boatload of good wrestling games. If you were a fan of wrestling games, and didn't want much else, it was the system to get.

They started it and are responsible for its continued popularity.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
I did say I'm biased.
I had a SNES, but not much for it. Mario World, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country 1+2 were what I mainly played in the SNES only years. Everything else I have now I picked up after the console was done.
It probably has to do with the fact that I was much younger (7-12yrs through the N64's life) and had no exposure to gaming culture opinions at all in that time period - I just played games and took them as they were, and didn't compare one against another for the most part.
I also had zero exposure to the Playstation except when we visited family, and that didn't matter because, again, I wasn't really comparing titles, just playing games. Among my entire family I think I was the only one with a SNES.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
That's the appropriate attitude to have, seems like most people's first system carry the most nostalgia, and in a lot of cases, remains the best thing ever. I think that's the case with the N64, for a good chunk of gamers today it was their first system. Had it been my first system, I might very well be clouded by nostalgia as well.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
My first system was NES. I also got a sega genesis when I was 4, my very first 'own' system. Snes took place when I was like 10, after selling a ton of things for it. I too got N64, but was majorly disappointed in the library, the only games I played were Mario 64, banjo-kazooie, tooie, puzzle league, oot, mk64, glover and that might be it. I held nostagalia for glover, and recently got it. But then again, n64 was clouded by bad rents too. Example is hey you pukachu, pokemon snap, wave racer. So while I totally see it for others why they like it, it marked the end of fun gaming to me. The only game I ever returned was sonic 3d blast.
The only games nowadays that hold any candle from the n64 library is banjo series, puzzle league and both pokemon stadiums. Before anyone says it, yes as a kid I got stuff that said pokemon

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
My first console was the SNES my dad bought for my 2 brothers, and I. They were older, so they experienced that more. N64 was something we got when I was 3. So I played both a lot, and both were my first system really. Guess that factors in. Had a ps2 for less than a year when my brothers and I decided to favour the Xbox, and got that in 2003, selling the ps2 to do so.
Gamecube was the first system I bought on my own in 2006 or 2007 I think. It was a really good time to buy a gamecube, everything was dirt cheap at that time, and for years to come you could find used gamecube games for like 10 bucks. So that factors into my top 3 as well.
I'd agree nostalgia plays a big role.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
I'm in the same boat as Seahawk. I grew up playing the N64 and then the Gamecube/PS2.
I owned a SNES but only had a few games for it. By the time I got into video games, N64 was in its prime. Paper Mario, Mario Party 1-3, Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, DK64, OoT, Majora's Mask, and Super Smash Bros. were most of the games I just played over and over again. I agree N64 didn't have a very deep library but it has some real gems.
Lately my favorite console has been the 3DS.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
My first game(s) for N64 were Tetrisphere, Glover, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, and Golden Eye, I got the system rather late but I would say that the ports of the games that it got that playstation also got were generally better. Nonetheless I do think playstation did have an overall better library which is probably why I bought the PS2 the Christmas after its release.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
I would say these as my fave 3 consoles
1) PS1 - Just because its the console we had the longest and had the most games for plus it has most of my fave gaming memories on... plus Final Fantasy VII, Grandia and so on was a king for RPG Games this console and Platformers
2) SNES - Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Mario All-Stars, Bubsy to give a few shout outs
3) Megadrive
I would of had N64 since that had so many great games on it that I enjoyed but darn that controller has to be the worst controller ever LOL probably would of been 3 but what were Nintendo thinking.

Wasn't that the one that had Alex Kidd or Sonic built into the console? so when you played it with no game it would play one of those 2.

i loved my game boy advance it brought handhelds to life with some awesome amazing franchies news and rebirth to old ones
i loved my gameboy original it might have been bulky and sucked up alot of battery but it had pokemon tetris and many other cool classics
i loved my Ds and 3Ds gave me alot of good memories that are still happening
least fav
1. the wii it might have sold alot but to me as a die hard nintendo fan they kinda droped the ball when they took away a controller and gave us motions cuzz i feel that games like disneys epic mickey or the new zelda game or the brand new donkey kong country did not have cool classic feels like there predissors in the past did cuzz of motions . i mean the metroid prime 3 did not work as good and other games that were once good did not feel the same to me .

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
Gameboy Advance, I just like to be able to play cool games with nice specs on a handheld fit for microgaming. I wish they's release a DS micro or something.

Re: What is YOUR favourite Game Console?
First game I ever remember playing was Duck Hunt. First console we got as a family was SMS - California games, alex the kidd. populous; all good games. However we got an N64 when it came out and that took over, and still remains my fav. console.
Games? Well, too many to list. I dabbled in collecting for a bit and had over 150 N64 games at one stage.
